Mario Party 4 is a fun crowdpleaser

Eternal Darkness
Killer 7
Skies of Arcadia
Chibi-Robo
Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest
Warioworld
Gotcha-Force

Star Fox Adventures

Tried to be a little less obvious with my choices but i just liked most of Nintendo's first party output around that time.
Only stuff i can't get into is Mario Party.

Biggest problem with the GameCube is that everyone kinda knows the best games on it, so the discourse is pretty played out at this point.
My favorite games on the system are Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and Melee because they're just so good, yadda yadda yadda.

Mr. Driller Drill Land

Surprised how i came back to every other console at the end of the gen to find out how much i liked their libraries.
At the end of the day i felt like they couldn't compete with the large variety of the PS2
But both Microsoft, Nintendo and even Sega had their own strengths that gen and i still consider any company competing that gen to have made the last truly great consoles on the market.

That being said, while i don't want to turn this into a console war, Nintendo dropped the ball on this gen with their poor relationship with third party developers.
They wouldn't have ended up in that position if they hadn't been focusing so hard on first and second party first, while Sony pretty much let the floodgates open on third party.
Nintendo thought that putting good hardware in their consoles didn't pay off after getting stomped by Sony like they did.
I still think this was a poor excuse for being so shortsighted on the third party side.
I wish Nintendo had kept committing to good hardware, but they will always use the Gamecube as an excuse of it not being a worthwhile endeavor.

Back to the topic at hand:
Ctrl + F
Custom Robo

>Nintendo dropped the ball on this gen with their poor relationship with third party developers.
Nintendo made the Gamecube to appeal to third-party and frequently collab with their IPs. Mini-disks made everyone jumped to the PS2.

>good hardware
Wii and Switch aren't good hardware?

>> No.7877259

Since nobody mentioned them yet, Kirby Air Ride, Bomberman Generation, and WarioWare Mega Party Games are super fun multiplayer games.

>Wii and Switch aren't good hardware?
The Wii is an overclocked GameCube and the Switch is an underpowered Android tablet.
The Wii U was actually comparatively powerful even with its gimped 4th core, but it seems powerful Nintendo systems are cursed.

>Nintendo made the Gamecube to appeal to third-party and frequently collab with their IPs
No not really, my pic related is apart of a larger read from this article:
https://www.denofgeek.com/games/how-the-gamecube-made-nintendo-cynical/

And if you want a deep dive into from someone who was working in the position of marketing the GC in North America here's this article:

https://web.archive.org/web/20130819010845/http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2013/08/15/the-struggles-of-marketing-the-gamecube/

>George Harrison says Nintendo was slow in sending out GameCube development kits to third party publishers.
>George: Certainly we have to get [third parties] development kits on a timely basis. They need their kits a year and half or two years in advance to really make a quality game that'll be ready to go at launch.

>Wii and Switch aren't good hardware?
In terms of specs, no they aren't competitive with their other console competitors in that sense on performance/gpu etc.
Gamecube was when Nintendo had hardware that was competing in that fight.

>> No.7878767

>>7877285
There's a part in the article called "The Perfect Console" talking about Nintendo appealing to third parties also they did collab with devs but only if it's exclusive to the GC.

>>7877282
Both are easy to develop and produce nice looking games with a steady framerate. That fine for what Nintendo and 3rd Party want.

Been playing FZero lately and it's really fucking fun. Yes it's hard but there's still plenty of fun to be had.

For stuff never talked about, I remember having a lot of fun with Hulk Ultimate Destruction back in the day.
