BC PS3 with HDMI is the best scaler.

>> No.7848879

GBS Control or Retrotink 5X with motion adaptive de-interlacing is the best scaler for the PS2 but the 2X-Pro is also really good. I love it for my Wii

>> No.7848897

So does every Retrotwink product.
Wait for the OSSC Pro or pick up a CRT that I bet you can get for free anyways.

Under 2 frames. Unless you're the turbo-autist of the century, I highly doubt you're actualoly going to notice.

I don't give a shit about either, use a real CRT, but I don't get what's wrong with shilling something when it's actually better? If you ask about latency, it's wrong to recommend the product that has less compared to the one that's more popular? I guess you're just having buyers remorse for buying a shit product. Most of /vr/ is always projecting about dumb shit.

Most modern TVs will have at least 1 to 2 frames of lag with whatever you out in them on Game Mode, and several more outside of game mode.

If you go fully buffered on the 5x, it should be about 20ms of computation time, though it's less when you don't go fully buffered, or aren't doing certain de-interlace methods. Only line doublers won't add any additional lag, but they have problems with dropped sync and other things. You have to have a scaler with a frame buffer if you want additional benefits, and that means usually anywhere from 4 ms to 20 ms of latency.

So essentially the whole argument is pointless. Nothing will be better than the 5x, and the OSSC Pro will be have the same, and if you really care about 20ms of delivery time, then you shouldn't be using a scaler or any modern flat panel today, you should be using a CRT.

>> No.7849664

>>7849167
Retrotink multipliers have NO lag, they say "52 milliseconds" on the product details page because they assume you have a shit tv. Some TVs only have 8ms of lag in 60hz mode.

>> No.7849671

>>7849580
The blur filters on Retrotink 2x products are the best, and contrary to what this thread is saying, there is NO lag introduced.

>> No.7849674

>>7849664
Line multipliers have almost no latency, yes, but the 5x is actually a scaler, and does have a framebuffer, which does introduce between 4 and 20 ms based on the settings.

That's not PCSX2. In all seriousness, I find it funny that there's this pissing content to make PS2 hardware look 'good'. It's garbage in, garbage out. That way it renders and outputs is inherently shitty. Component on a 15khz CRT is about as good as you'll get it but it's still an UGLY fucking system.

>> No.7849738

>>7849732
It can do crystal-clear RGsB. There are systems like the N64 and Xbox Original which are "Garbage in, garbage out", but the PS2 isn't one of them.

Good monitors these days have 3 - 9 ms of TOTAL latency, that's processing + G2G response time.

Isn't it meant to be a budget solution that does a workable job at fixing the PS2's interlacing without relying on bob deinterlacing like the standard OSSC/Retrotink 2X?

Yeah, but there's lots of noise copmpared to other 6th gen consoles, and 720x480 titles have a pixel shift that can't be fixed with optimal sampling.

>>7850618
I can understand line multiplying upscalers being a better alternative to the GBS, though admittedly I'm not sure how bob-ing would be. I hear some TVs are better at de-interlacing than others, but that depends on the set up IIRC.

PCSX2

>> No.7850843

Bob-ing has no input lag and retains far more colour and brightness than the GBS-C, only problem is the video bobs up and down. It's not ideal for recording, but it's great for just playing games with.

I feed the GBS into the OSSC to then multiply. Looks pretty damn good to me better than the bob and in 480p games I can't personally detect a drop in quality compared to when running straight through OSSC, but that's just my experience
