Garbage games you played when you were a kid but kind of enjoyed anyway because you were a dumb kid who didn't consider a game could be bad.

I thought Sonic Heroes was a fun game that I liked as a child, but after having played through the whole game again recently, I can't understand how anyone could even possibly enjoy the game a tiny bit outside of the music. Everything gameplay-wise is just absolutely abysmal and poorly thought out to the point that I don't get how the game was released in the state it was.
Some things launch you into death if you hold any direction, several things launch you into death if you don't hold anything, every enemy takes more than one hit (some of them taking more than 10), levels take 10+ minutes on every team besides Team Rose (the only good team solely because of this reason), and other shit. This isn't even including the complete bullshit the special stages are. Sometimes, it feels like you're being ground up against the floor for no reason, whereas if you go too fast, the game will simply stop you or have your characters turn around. And switching away from the speed character is useless, despite the orb formations implying you should.
Fucking nonsense. Game's a joke.

This shit right here, the whole freeware collection. A few years later I met a kid who had also played it. We talked about it and how cool it was. A few years later, I realized we were both stupid because he was talking about Okami instead of Camy but somehow we never made the connection.

when my mom and dad would buy us games it was usually stuff marketed as old fashioned, board game collections, atari 2600 collections, virtual pool, and a game based on an old tv show about cars. The toy like look of the vehicles in the game appealed to me as a child I think.

This game. There was a trilogy of winged warrior games. Did any of my other AOL Games bros download it? The company is still alive and still sells the registered version (and they respond to your emails within like 1 minute its incredible). I bought the trilogy. Incredibly basic rpg. Game breaks down to nothing more than swing sword and drink health potion, but something about the engine and graphics and music and just overall presentation made an impression on me as a kid. It was like, I could see through it and realized how cheap it was, but still thought it played well, and it made me realize anybody can make a game. Never made mine though.

Sonic Adventure 2 has so much more going for it than Sonic Heroes, so I can definitely see someone enjoying it that much. Heroes on the other hand just does everything wrong on both a Sonic game level (overly long levels, excessive amounts of slow segments) and a general video game level (terrible controls, poor level design). It blows my mind that they called the game done and shipped it out.

I think the worst sin it commits is a large amount of deaths never feel like it's your fault. Like if I'm going through a game and get killed by a tough platforming section, that's entirely on me, but if I'm killed by a shitty camera angle or getting thrown off the edge because of bad physics it's completely on the game.

Loved the movie as a kid (apparently I saw it in theaters at least four times) so my dad got me the Game Boy Color game. Best thing I can say about it is that it has a relatively fun little single console multiplayer mode in the form of hide and seek where you trade the Game Boy off to a friend and look for each other. The actual levels are pretty bad. I could never get more than a few levels in.
I never played the N64/PS1 game at the time (although I did consider renting it a few times) but after trying it I'd say I would have loved it as a kid.
