The workers are gathering the same resources you are, only they use them to build Sinistar while you use them to build sinibombs.

You can slow down Sinistar's construction by destroying workers/denying them resources or bombing the partially-constructed Sinistar.

You need to land 13 sinibombs to destroy him once the workers finish constructing him. They can and will repair him mid-fight given the chance, requiring you use even more bombs.

The game keeps looping through 4 different zones each time you destroy Sinistar.

>>782841

I keep coming back to that game every few years, thinking, "it couldn't have been THAT bad."

But it is. Probably the most tedious game I've ever forced myself to play. Huge multi-part shipping lane missions, alien base missions and artefact sites take hours each and there's just no end to them. And don't even think about skipping one of them, you have to go through each of them from start to finish every single time or your score will plummet and the aliens will win.

>an alien was stuck inside a wall
That's the same reason I quit last time. I spent two hours scouring every inch of every room in an alien base only to find nothing and had to abort the mission.

It's a shame because I quite like the shamelessly Lovecraftian atmosphere.

This game right here. Oh my GOD. It is FILLED with noob traps. Not just one or two. Not things you learn to do/avoid over time. Noob traps that are random as FUCK. (Ex: Penguins spawning behind you and jettisoning in to you at exact points in time, Rolling rocks that spawn right infront of you on upward slopes, bullshit like this.)

How many of you ACTUALLY beat it back in the day? Did anyone actually learn every single one of these traps and when they would happen so that they could get through these 8 stages of hell?

Are you trying to kill everything? Just destroy the devices and leave.

The first part of the base and the artefact sites take 10 minutes or less if you just blow everything up with DPLs. For artefact sites, go in with a hovertank, blast the shit out of the hallucinoids, blow up the device and then gtfo.

Same thing with the Alien base, although you'll have to capture a lobsterman commander at one point or another.

The ships are a little too big, though.

And despite that, this game has as much slowdown as your entry level SNES game does. Unlike Sonic, this game only goes fast if you're going in a straight line/linear path with literally nothing else but the player. Remember the loop-de-loops in Sonic? Those were there to show off the Genesis superior VRAM, which would be completely impossible to do on an SNES.

Mostly because when I was little I spent most of my time outside and my game liked to periodically wipe my data, but also because I think I stopped caring about winning and had more fun just immersing myself in the world and imagining myself as Link on an adventure.

Back then it wasn't really about winning, it was just about enjoying the game.

What am I supposed to be looking at? All I see are quick turns of very thin "roads", which is a way to work around that. The loopdeloops chew up so much VRAM because of how big and detailed they are. These on the other hand don't because they're much smaller, but serve the same purpose.
