over time, games will become rarer, less likely to be in good condition and obviously expensive. The amount of reproductions circulating on the market is another factor, because the average neckbeard wouldn't even notice it, but would still pay a few hundred for it.

The reason people lift pads so much with gamecubes is they actually try to flat mount the chips to the board, those designs seldom work well. Wire installs are the way to go.

Im Canadian actually and when I said American I mean north American cause the Canadian gamecube fans are all just as lame. That gen was a computer game gen, there was literally nothing on any of the consoles that generation that made them worth going out of your way to play. 3d zelda and Mario and all that had been done the gen before. Its not that any of the consoles were bad at that time its just they didn't really have anything special to offer where as that was the prime of pc gaming and the best days of online gaming. Half life came out before the ps2 yet the ps2 could barely run it same goes for deus ex only the xbox could keep up. Gamecube games are good of course nintendo puts effort and quality into their products usually but God damn if cube fans are the most annoying faggots ever acting like they had the best games of the generation when it was a pretty forgettable gen for consoles overall. Thats why I hate it. Xbox and ps2 don't have that cancerous fanbase. The sixth generation of consoles just wasn't that good.

2009 was the best time to buy cheap gamecube games and accessories. No one gave a fuck about Gamecube (especially before Wii came out) and like 64 became a lot more popular in hindsight.
Now would probably be a good time to buy Wii U stuff before kids born in 2016 get nostalgic for it in a decade.

Gamecube was more aimed at kids under 12. PS2/Xbox more for older kids and teenagers in middle and high school. Xbox had some of its strongest representation in college dorms, especially around the time Halo 2 came out.

The Gamecube kids relive their childhood and overhype the nostalgia, amplified by the fact that most of them are Nintendo fanboys or kids that were born in 2007. The PS2/Xbox kids tend to be edgier and have more disdain just as they did back then.

Why do people seethe so much at people that collect? Of course they're going to get expensive. They were very fragile discs handled by toddlers so there's going to be a shortage of good condition examples, and it wasn't a very popular console in the first place, so what do you expect. That was the best era because online games like quake and unreal tournament were at their peak. And you had good rpgs like Gothic and morrowind. Also warcraft 3 and diablo 2 on battle.net. 2004 for gave us doom 3 and half life 2. Where the hell were you reading it was a bad era for pc gaming

Most people think of the early 00s as when consoles became top priority in the market and I think I’d mostly agree. There was a decent stretch of time when PC didn’t get ports of quite a few popular consoles games. Especially compared to now when AAA multiplats are almost always released on PC at the same time as consoles. Halo: CE for example didn’t come to PC/Mac until a full two years after the Xbox launch.
