Just got some PSX games from my gf, so I invested in my first every PSX memory card today. I didn't have a PS2 until 2008 so I never played many PS1, PS2 games. It's a great time to be building a collection though, cheap prices for great games everywhere (least for PS2).

I'm also really into Genesis collecting right now, want to get the gems that I missed when I was a young'un.

My recent additions are some Wonderswan games (further encouragement on my long journey to learn to read and write Japanese) and some NES titles I got for a dollar each, though I don't know if they're working 100% yet since toasters are so finicky.

Deleted post you were reffering to due to wrong pic, but here is the game in question.

It is an "NES Classic" metroid from the early 90's before SNES was launched. Nintendo's Player's Choice of the time. It was only first party games though, iirc

the NES classic one is, but that does not mean it is worth more. The player's choice Super Mario 64 is infinitesimally more rare than the black label, but it isn't worth any more.

NES, SNES, Genesis and Japanese Saturn.

I love the Saturn.

Darius Gaiden, Virtua Cop 1&2, Virtua On, Vampire Hunter.

Price-wise? Mega Man X2 & V(GB), Gargoyles Quest 2, Die Hard Arcade, etc.
Personally? Can't live without my Super Metroid.

But the price makes it seem not worth the hassle.

is die hard arcade a crown jewel in terms of price?
i have that one, panzer dragoon saga, magic knight rayearth, dragon force, shining force 3 (all 3 scenarios and premium disc).
but i been collecting saturn since N64 and PS1 days. always loved saturn

U>>782408

That's why I get the Japanese versions. In the US, most all the games worth playing are usually hilariously expensive... You can get an action replay cart to run the imports if you don't want to spend for the actual Japanese Saturn.

>> No.782449

Currently collecting for the NES.

I plan on doing N64 nexts and finally the SNES.

I only collect games I genuinely like and will play/want a hard copy of. So "completing" my collection won't really take that long.

>> No.782465

>>782423

To me, I suppose yeah. I was fortunate to get it dirt cheap, because the current ebay prices for it are more than I'd be willing to pay. Even the JP version starts to reach into my uncomfortable range. There's only a small amount of games I'm willing to pay $30+ for right now, and DHA isn't one.

>> No.782492

i agree. but for me it has hella high replay value.
i prolly play it more than any other game i have. and i even have a ps3 and a mame cab

Graphic Novels, Beer bottle caps (Only the ones I like & drink myself though)

"uncomfortable range" for me seems to depend on the system. For NES it is $10 but for SNES it is between $14 and $40

N64 is like $5

What is your uncomfortable range?

I paid $50 for Gargoyle's Quest 2 and I don't give no fucks it is beautiful.

>> No.782660

>>782589

Yeah, depends. For NES games I rarely go above $10. As a Saturn lover, shmup fan, I'm more likely to spend more for something on my list. I was ready to go $25 for Darius Gaiden JP, but got away with $17 on ebay. Did $25 on Rockman 7 and I was fine with that, and have been considering Rockman X3 for awhile at around $30. It just depends on the game and how much I want it. Some I'm thinking about have been running around $50 lately.

>What systems do you collect for?
Right now I'm trying to get my NES collection buffed up, and I trying to save for a copy of Ogre Battle MothBQ for SNES.
>What is your favorite system to collect for?
Dreamcast, and Neo Geo pocket color.
>What are your recent additions?
Valkyrie Profile for the PS1 complete.
>What are your crown jewels?
Well VP, Earthbound complete, my DC (due to it having a broadband adapter), Faselei! and some other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting.
>What is the rarest game you own?
Faselei! The esrb NA version, holy fuck that game is expensive now.
>What else do you collect?
Nothing really, I've been collecting video games since I was 15. Other stuff cant hold my interest like video games.

Seems like a pretty accurate uncompfortable range.

I don't understand how people shell out $200 for EB though. Not to bash EB or anything, I am sure it is a great game, but according to any rarity guide, it never goes above a level 4 rarity, which is just one notch above 7th saga as far as rarity goes. My uncomfortable range for a game like that would be $50 as well. It is strange.

>> No.784530

>>784142
Depends where you live. If your off the west coast it's just mainly finding someone that sells them or keeping an on eye on cl and waiting for one to pop up. Neo-geo.com's Zelda doll trading forums is a great place for arcade cabs also since you can find people from all over the that have machines and since most of the people on the forums are enthusiast they tend not to jew the crap out of the other user's on the forums.
