See the idea behind making a product is you intend to MAKE money off of it.

I like the idea of this existing, but I think Sega would get shat on if they didn't make a USB-compatible 3D controller to go along with the thing.

I like the selection of games in the image, but I would make a few additions:

>Panzer Dragoon II Zwei
>Panzer Dragoon Saga
>Guardian Heroes
>Burning Rangers
>Virtual-On: Cyber Troopers
>Mortal Kombat Trilogy
>Saturn Bomberman
>Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge
>NBA Jam Tournament Edition

And a few honorable mentions that I think would be cool to have, but maybe not as necessary:

>Earthworm Jim 2
>Daytona USA (yeah it's not a great port, but still fun)
>Virtua Racing
>Sega Ages
>Three Dirty Dwarves
>Golden Axe: The Duel
>Sega Touring Car

What do you guys think? Open to suggestions

Panzer Dragoon and Saturn Bomberman are absolute must haves for sure. I’m going to assume Sega lost the source code for Panzer Dragoon Saga long ago unfortunately.

How is Saturn emulation now anyway? Would something like a Saturn mini even be feasible? I know the PlayStation mini got mixed reviews.

>> No.7794071

I'd assume that it's still at a point where they wouldn't make too much money off of it vs the cost to make a device capable of emulating the Saturn.
Also including light gun titles like virtua cop in that image seems like a waste unless they could make an LCD compatible light gun.

Those shitty ARM SoCs they put into these things can barely emulate the PS1. And Saturn emulation is not good enough for a commercial product even to this day. Plus what >>7794019 said.

>> No.7794230

>>7794060
It's passable these days. Getting one of the better emulators and tweaking it for performance and 720p output wouldn't be much of an issue. The price of that box would be a little too expensive, over 100 but not 200. In time things would just get cheaper. Pi4s are running 2d games but it appears 3d games tank it.

It's great, but only if you use Mednafen or SSF, everything else is absolute garbage and both are kind of a chore to get working. With SSF you need to mount CDs instead of just opening the file for some reason, it doesn't seem very well optimized either, the games ran perfectly fine but it was using 100% of my CPU which isn't exactly ideal if you want that part to live longer. Mednafen is awkward to use because it has no GUI, it's also autistic about which BIOS you use and for multi CD games you need to set up an m3u file in notepad with the cue file names and load that instead of the games in order for it to work properly. Thankfully you can just drag and drop the cue/m3u files onto the exe to make the game work, a small mercy. When the game starts you can press F1 for help/hotkey list. For whatever reason Alt+Shift+1 is what you need to press to set your controls. You don't need to fuck with any settings though it runs fine once you get all of that out of the way. It is also way more optimized and didn't melt my CPU like SSF did.

It's almost impossible to emulate saturn on a Raspberry Pi-like environment so we'll have to wait a few years.
Dreamcast Mini could ironically happen though since emulation for it is much better.

During the 90s most Jamma Boards were easily 4 figures, used. Those boards were still making money in arcades. So if you wanted to play quality arcade ports at home Saturn was the ONLY place. Not playstation. Among many other arcade ports of the time, all the capcom ports suck on Playstation and snes. And its even the same again in this day and age with PCBs getting insanely expensive again. Mame sucks because imput lag, speed issues, and questionable audio emulation. You get no input lag on saturn ports. And many of those ports have additional content on the disc as well. And some of these ports such as Outrun represent the very best version you can get.

weird, that's the opposite for me
SSF runs fine on my toaster, but if I want to try Mednafen I'm fucked, it's way too slow and my CPU is melting
however I agree, emulation is great as long as you use one of these two

Fake news. Most have cut animations, worse textures, worse sound samples, inaccurate gameplay, worse stability, the list goes on.

Consolecuckoldry will always be inferior to the arcades of the same period, sorry you have to delude yourself because you wasted so much money on shitty versions of games, though.
