Don't worry anon, with a bit of practice and effort you too can be building very nice scenery. The trick is just making a conscious effort to try and build something that looks good and avoid packing everything into a small area, and using your scenery options etc. The keys like Shift help you do precision scenery placements for stuff like building scenery ontop of existing scenery, or locking your placement cursor to the height you want it to be at.

>> No.7788709

I was watching that Noclip documentary about RCT and he definitely is wrong when he said "the game was unplayable on modern systems"

absolutely false, it's not that you couldn't play the game on modern systems without OpenRCT2, it's just that OpenRCT2 is so good now that it's the objectively better choice for playing the game.

>> No.7788725

>>7788709
Yeah I found that weird. GOG has been selling a version that has worked on modern systems for years. Although you are 100% correct, OpenRCT2 is the best way to play now.

>> No.7788734

I'm still fucking pissed that openRCT2 fucked with the loop hitboxes so you can't do loop stacks. Fucking hacks, fixing something that objectively made the game worse once it was gone.

>> No.7788736

>>7788725
I think it's a slip-up, because an interviewee later talks about how the game has high performance on any computer.

Usually source ports are made because a game will become unplayable on modern systems, for example Descent with its Rebirth source port. But OpenRCT2 was created to mainly allow the game to be improved. Quality of life, mod support, easier custom object addition, the list goes on. RCT2 works fine, but was starting to age.

I was digging through my old files some 5+ years old and found this landscape/workbench. Some people itt wanted a big landscape park to do whateever the fuck we want, so here's my suggestion. (Pic related.)
https://files.catbox.moe/k6may3.sc6
HostAnon or whoever will host this weekend: feel free to take a look at the rides/stalls options and (de-)select whatever you want. But don't go through the scenery options as I meticulously went through the Advance options and chose as many Large/Small scenery objects available. Wacky World/Time Twisters expansions are such a fucking pozzed mess that they mix sets of scenery between the two categories of Large and Small options; that's why you can't add them in Scenario Editor unlike vanilla RCT scenery. There's way too many objects in one scenery theme because of obj limit. I can't believe people were paid to make these expansions.

So I tried making a scenario to maybe get used next weekend in the server just because I was bored (not to knock this week's scenario lol).

I did some testing in other parks for the objective, it's pretty easily doable as long as you stay on top of optimizing your ride prices and refurbishments. I also fucked around with the invention list so someone can't come in and IMMEDIATELY START BUILDING AN INVERT YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, but that's not the main reason.

You start off 105k in debt with a massive amount of interest which makes you lose 4.2k each month. I don't know if it's doable in its current state, and I'm going to do some more testing. Even though you can't outright fail the objective, you can go so far in the red that you just can't recover, which is why I even bothered with the invention list.

I have no idea if any of you are interested in going from Weenie-Hut Jr. mode to ULTRA-NIGHTMARE mode, but I liked the idea behind this week's scenario, despite the original goal being quite literally impossible.

A decent-throughput woodie that isn't built like shit can, alone, make 10k in a month. If you can make a coaster that you can charge $20 for, and then reduce the price accordingly after each aging interval, you can make fuckloads of money.
With just 10 coasters, following these parameters (which is easy to do), you can VERY easily get $35k A MONTH from ride tickets.

>> No.7834043

>>7833870
Believe it or not this is doable without changing anything lol. The loan interest is pretty fucking oppressive, especially since you have to take out even more of a loan to start turning a profit. That said, it only took me two tries to out-earn the interest to allow for bigger, higher-earning rides.

I'm not sure if I should leave it as it is or tone it down just to avoid having to restart. You really GOTTA GO FAST placing rides, pricing them accordingly, placing stalls, and setting staff patrols.
