Retro game magazines are pretty comfy. I like reading the articles full of hope for new consoles/games and the letters sent in by readers are wholesome.

Is there a complete archive of NP (and PSM, et al) online? Last time I bothered to look, it was incomplete.

I prefer my German
>Club Nintendo Magazin
remember that Nintendo europe was (or still is???) located in Germany. At least they were in the 90s and they were based as fuck, just like their magazine. Americans will never experience official Nintendo characters like Link hearing the line
>always use a condom
in game in an official Nintendo game!!!

Nintendo of Europe hired wunderkind
Claude M. Moyse whose mother was French and his father was Spanish and since Claude was born in Germany he was also fluent in German PLUS English. So 4 languages in one dude, so he would translate games.
He was quite a troll but German Nintendo had a sense of humour and didn't mind so he put all kinds of jokes in his translations for Nintendo games. That's why I prefer the German versions of 90s Nintendo games.

In Links Awakening for GB he put lines like :
never without a condom
give me your juices and i will give you mine and „STOP THE WAR! GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!“ (the last one was actually in English even though the rest of the game was in German).

Moyse visited Nintendo in the 90s and when he visited the composer of Links Awakening he would show him some of his techno CDs, a genre that was big in the 90s in Germany. The composer liked it and if you enter
>Moyse
as name for link in links awakening you will hear a techno song.

i could tell you more of the stuff he did if you want to.

screenshot is the actual German version of the game, no ROM hack.

in my county's official nintendo magazine, 95% of the reader art sent in was already (in 1995-ish) thinly veiled Yoshi fetish shit.
I didn't understand it as that at the time but I remember exclaiming "Why fucking Yoshi? Every drawing every month, yoshi"

That issue has pictures of all the MM3 bosses in that weird airbrush style.
For MM4 they got lazy and did something that looks like FiLtErZ

There was the one where a Game Boy got shelled out in the Middle East and still worked afterwards. The NYC Nintendo store had it on display, or at least a lookalike.

this magazine did such a good job getting me hyped for shit i had never heard of before

>> No.7773530

fucking hell! I have written a long ass reply about him yesterday or this morning and I thought it was in here but for some reason it was actually in /vr/ and I wrote my entire text on the phone while being on the shitter.

So now I have to remember what I might have written.

I forgot a lot but in a Podcast he said he flew in to Japan to play a Square RPG and they did not just mail him the text so he could translate it. NO he had to play the entire game and got the text of the game that way. What a shitty work flow. That was for their first game that got translated into Germany. He said they were also dicks and checking if he could actually beat the entire game so they left him alone in a room where he had to beat the game.

He wrote some stupid jokes into Secret of Evermore. Like instead of calling the town
>Podunk
like in English he called in
>Großostheim
this is where Nintendo of Europe is (or was?) located: In the middle of fuck nowhere near Munich- a podunk.
I think some monsters in Evermore or the main character says
>I've to get home in time, I don't want to miss EastEnders (actually Lindenstraße but who knows this so I picked a show that is like it)

Main Character also threatens to eat the dog because he is hungry. Often makes me wonder if he just sneaked it into the German build or if stuck up and prude Americans removed some stuff for their American version but we got those things in the German version???

First time I am actually seeing this in English. Still own the German copy. Also just saw they even had a Dutch version which looks exactly like the German version just in Dutch. Wondering if Nintendo of Europe (aka Germany) farted out all those versions and they did they main design and then just got it translated.
