this is an extremely autistic observation for even this board but i like how nintendo using the bottom left palette for arcade releases, famicom titler, famicom TVs etc implied that they saw this garish piece of shit palette as the premium option.

The only "garish" palette there is top right, and it's extremely disappointing to see them use it in official re-releases instead of the arcade palette.

Speaking of arcade machines, pic related is the VS. System version of Super Mario Bros. and the palette is identical to the Playchoice 10 release. Two arcade machines using the same palette and presumably the same monitors, manufactured by Nintendo. If there was ever a "canon" SMB palette, it would be this. Released early enough for the SMB team to have worked on it and approved of the colors as they appeared on the monitor.

PC-10 is the only true RGB palette. I don't understand why anyone uses anything else.

I Just use the classic version and think every game I checked looks better (and more logical when considering what things are supposed to be) with it

It looks like the developers forgot that the logo and the ground shared the same palette for the Playchoice 10. The ground looks really bad.

NES Palette discussion is rather funny when you consider that in the 80s and early 90s most people probably just turned the tint knob on their TV to whatever looked right to them.

Even the cheapest TV had a default setting for brightness/contrast/tint.

Even if you don’t like the top right, garish is not a word to describe it. It’s too dull if anything,

i'm a psx baby that only played nes games thru emulators (official or unofficial) so nes games either look good to me extremely dark or extremely bright, no middle ground

The GBC game. Supposedly the definitive version of the game. But, of course, that game being on a console with a non-backlit screen that brightens colors opens up another can of worms. I guess playing the game on a console with a screen mod might go some way to settle the dispute.

No one knows where the Sony CXA palette actually came from and follow up attempts at replicating Sony's decoder get a darker palette in line with the rest. NTSC colors vary but not THAT much. >>7772040 is just being a fag.
