It was the summer of 1991 and I was freshly out of the ninth grade... Things had been AWESOME. I was gearing up to play high school football in my tenth grade year. All my best friends lived right down the street from me and we were all playing the almighty Sega Genesis in our downtime: things couldn't have been any better.

I want to forget, I would pay anything to not remember, and I drank myself to black out every night of my 20s to stop the memories. I don't want nostalgia.

Cut to 92. My older brother, the guy I idolised was a crack ridden monster. I was only in the 10th grade but thanks to PSAs and reminders from William Sessions, erstwhile FBI director - I knew drugs were wrong. My older brother however, was totally in the thrall of crack cocaine. At first, it was the TV. I had to take my genny and SOR 2 over to my friends house to play. Then, one fateful afternoon, my genny was swiped too. My brothers sneering face, by now warped by addiction was unusually animated as he repeatedly denied selling it for another hit. A year later, my bro was clean and we had a super Nintendo. Shit was so cash

Wake up with blurry eyes to my uncle still playing ff8 around 3 a.m. Ask him where he has gotten to and he says "I'm in a haunted water temple." Try to keep my eyes open to watch his battle, but with every blink my eye lids get heavier. Fall asleep and dream of exploring such a place with my party.

Never have I played ff8 since. I don't want to ruin the mysticism. I just looked up "haunted water temple" and the thing that comes up is the Tomb of the Unknown King. Does that accurately describe it?

The year Kevin Nash was raped. There's even a game called "Streets Of Rape" featuring him on the cover.

Back in elementary school we had to tell class what we wanted for that Christmas and I said I wanted a Dreamcast. The teacher thought I wanted a "Dream Castle" and exclaimed it, which prompted everyone to laugh at me. I was called Dreamboy by everyone for the rest of the year.

I could only afford my SNES in 94. MK2 was the first game I owned on that console. Before that I had a famiclone and rented games like Ninja Turtles and Ninja Gaiden. In 91 I had an atari clone instead. At that time I could only watch others playing cool beatemups like Final Fight that I couldn't afford at the arcades. Final Fight was the most played game in the arcades back then

Sometimes when I close my eyes I see memories of walking through the electronics department with my brother and seeing N64 and PS1 games behind glass screens. Harvest Moon, StarFox and the greatest hits label of FF7 pops out to me. The sound of the cashier wrangling his keys to open up the locks. The demo station already occupied by others. It was the place to go to kill time while mom was shopping.

Man, I'm lucky I don't have diabetes and still have my teeth....

One summer in the 90s, my cousin and I killed a 12 pack of Faygo Moon Mist in 2 days. The whole time we were playing through Abe's Odyssey.

Played a lot of video games with my cousins and older brother growing up. We taped cardboard to the TV and got rid of the radar in Goldeneye.

It's not "gay fanfiction". It really happened. I feel sorry for what happened to Kevin Nash during the summer of 92.

You drank 6 cans of pop in just two days. Whoa slow down there you maniac! Seriously though I bet the average soda consumer drinks more than 3 cans a day. Seems everyone I know who drinks pop only drinks pop.

You can. Move to a small town. Even in my shithole country our small cities are very safe
