Or are you too young to remember a time when you got your news from print media rather than online?

For me, it was pic related, before graduating onto Official Playstation Magazine and then GamesTM

I had good ol' Nintendo power, then later GamePro.

>Amiga Power
Indescribably based.

>> No.7755594

bought one or two a month from around 1987 until the early 00s
loved me speccy mags, mean machines, C&VG simple as
I remember games mag for the Amiga etc, it was weekly or fortnightly (I forget) in the very late 80s to early 90s in the UK, it was pretty thin for obvious reasons and was only in circulation for about a year, can't remember wat it was called tho

Amiga Action?

God no it was far more obscure than that and may have been multi-platform, Amiga/ST etc.
Looking through a few lists i'm pretty certain it was just called "Game", can't find any pics of it after a few mins of searching, pretty hard to search for when you're searching for "Game magazine" etc kek.
It was a proper shop-bought mag and cost either 50p or £1

there was a magazine that ran for a surprisingly long time in the UK that only reviewed Amiga or possibly Spectrum games.
towards the final years they started running out of new software releases to talk about, so instead they went ultra-based and started doing long features on the Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories and having long-running feuds with readers who wrote to their inbox. was funny as fuck at the time.

will try & find it online and post it here

Oh you fucking beauty, yeah that it lmao, nice one.
How did you find it, or did you just know?

It rang a bell but I checked here first: http://amr.abime.net/magazines

Games TM is truly the best. Official Dreamcast Magazine was also incredible (though that might be partly nostalgia/circumstances talking).

Yes I could only afford two games per year so I always got one before plunking down the mega bucks for a game.

I think my first mag was some Euro mag with Mario 3, but I had a ton of Nintendo Power.
Tried to get every PSM I could find second hand.
I also picked up some others depending on the cover.

Pic is the first NP I bought.

Shitloads. Zzap, Commodore Format, Mean Machines, CVG, NMS, Super Play, Hyper, Edge etc. Amiga Power was great but i didn't have an amiga, i did flip through it every month at the news agency though.

I tried reading EGM a couple of times but even as a kid i could tell the people writing it were complete idiots coz they couldn't form sentences correctly, they very obviously weren't playing the games they reviewed, and the magazine had more ads in it than actual games stuff.

All embarrassingly bad advertising/PR scams with absolutely disgusting page layouts and art direction,
People thing IGN, Gamespot and Kotaku are bad, but it all started with those magazines you mentioned right there.

I read them all. I would often visit the newsstands and read them before putting them back. Going to malls, grocers, big box stores, it was a great way to soak up the free air conditioning and imagine of all these games which were just too expensive to have. The images from the magazines with the power of imagination was the way to cope in my day.

Mean Machines (before the split) was based and yeah, EGM had a very jewy vibe about it and none of the MM bantz.
