>Play games as close as possible to the ideal "nostalgic" retro experience with the highest quality vintage hardware available to you
OR
>Play retro games in the newest clearest highest resolutions possible with the best controllers possible

Do one or the other or both but don't do shit in between. Also, with a slight nod to some shadow mask people and people who consider re-releases to be more "definitive" than the original, the most ideal version of #1 is objective while there are infinite matters of personal preference at work in #2 making it extremely subjective.

That's why the CRT people are so much more unified than the filter people.

I know plenty about CRTs but considering you provide no information about yoir display and are using a scanline filter instead of relying on your actual CRT to provide proper scanlines and that your screenshot is in a 4:3 resolution I think it's reasonable for me to have assumed you're using a 4:3 VGA CRT monitor. If you're overscanning to make that letterboxed emulator fill your screen vertically then you're also overscanning the left and right edges right off your display, which not only still distorts your game to shit it also makes it harder by keeping you from seeing what's coming.

Just the simple fact that you're showing Yoshi's Island makes me suspicious you're that filter troll.

But holy shit what was going on on my screen was glorious, happy, unexplainable shit.. Lots of weird shit moving around in weird ways. and i was an introverted kid.. my parents where nazis or else ide bo doing regular things.

You sound like the pleb, sticking dusty carts into some console or at best dumping hundreds into flash carts with promises of far-off full compatibility.

Get on my authentic output true video signal emulation level. Post pics of your BVM. Even have a 13" PVM in front of the toilet attached with 50 feet of CAT-5 for special operations.

While this is not only my favorite Castlevania, it's without a doubt my favorite SNES game as well.

Top notch level design makes every stage different and interesting. Controls are solid, Simon follows your commands without a delay and mistakes are always you to blame for. Monsters and bosses are memorable. My favorite being probably the skeleton knight Rowdain from the first stage, riding on his bone horse. While some blame the whip being too overpowering, that you don't have any use for items anymore, there's time and place for every sidearm if you know how to use them properly.

And the soundtrack... I can probably whistle every theme in order from the intro music to the very end. It's just freaking amazing. Fitting every stage perfectly. All of you are most likely aware of Theme of Simon, Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears, so I'd like to share some not so well known themes from the game.

I'm surprised how many people haven't heard of Mega Man X. Always interesting to get first impressions from people who aren't familiar with the games.

>>776084
If you're interested, we sometimes have Mega Man generals here in /vr/. I highly recommend playing the sequels on SNES/SFC and PS1. Unfortunately they're pretty pricey now, but still great games and worth emulating if you don't feel like paying the unreasonably high prices. Kind of makes me sad that it's getting harder to collect games these days.

Since this thread is actually about scaling filters vs. proper video and Mario World 2 is a clear example of a scaling filter game, I will also put forth that the Kunio-Kun series of games has an art style that is well suited to such scaling filters.
