I directly compared samurai showdown 3 and 4 on the saturn hooked to a crt with a raspberry pi and it was so fucking laggy. Emulation sucks for anything that isnt turn based. Playstation sucks for 2d and lags as well!

The problem with Dreamcast is that it is a niche console, not many talk about it, but definetly retro. However, because people have to push the console generations meme, having the console on the board opened precedents to allow the other 6th gen consoles, which started the turboautism on this board.

Most of the time yes. But in this case no. If you go from playing heavily on Original Hardware to emulation, youll notice your inputs are delayed. "Wtf I know I did X or Y" then play it on OG hardware and your timing is normal. Its akin to playing a port of a game on another console, you played the one version a million times but on this console you arent cutting it.

I think that the Dreamcast could have definitely benefited from more games where you can just stop and take a breather or explore like Collectathon Platformers instead of constant nonstop linear arcade action. A good example from the Dreamcast itself is the city hub section from Sonic Adventure 1. They removed it in 2 and replaced it with a soulless level select which I thought was pretty lame.

Looking at the list there wasn't really anything amazing. Both No More Heroes games are better as ideas than actual games, their concepts are cool and leave a lot of room for interesting scenes and writing but between them is some of the most boring games known to man. Mad World too is really really cool for 10-15 minutes...then you realize that's all there is.

There's this contingent of interesting games on Nintendo systems that attempt to harken back to their creators earlier work, letting you know this time "they're back for real!" and the scam might have worked a couple of times - but we're so far removed from those games being market relevant that not even the shills need to pretend they come close to their best games. I actually find mad world's inclusion to be insulting at this point. It's not a good game. It's a 5/10 demo for an 8/10 idea that it goes NOWHERE with. Same applies to basically everything else on this list. It's just so hollow and gay.

That said I think these games are worth playing, but you will not escape the droning mind numbing you get from no more heroes. It'll stick with you for a long time. Still though, once you're done there's not much more to try there. The Wii's got the best library of the generation even if none of the games sold, the PS3's exclusives were definitely better - but I'll happily put on Elebits, play for 30 minutes before throwing on Tokyo Jungle to play for 4 hours. Then maybe play a little bit of Lost in Shadow for 20 minutes.

Sneaking those fucking awful nintendo games like DKCR or Epic Yarn is a sick fuck move though. Work on that.

I've been playing Heavy Metal: Geomatrix, it's an arcade style third person arena shooter by Capcom. It's got an extremely cool visual style thanks to the HM license and it has awesome character designs by Simon Bisley. It also has a licensed soundtrack of various Metal bands that fits the setting perfectly. It's a little awkward at first but once you realize you tap the target button to switch targets and hold the button for free movement it really clicks. You run around frantically and grab weapons that run out of ammo/uses quick similar to a Beat em' Up, you can also use a melee attack, jump, dash dodge, use a super move and double jump/ hover around if you get the jetpack.

If you actually give it some time and get used to the controls it gets extremely fun. I think it's super underrated and definitely recommend it. I heard that there's a Spawn game also on the Dreamcast that plays similar to this title so I'm going to be picking that one up as well.

If you cross off the FMV games it still has a library in the hundreds. A lot of the time you're simply playing the same game that came out on the Genesis earlier or at the same time, only with CD audio and possible some extra cutscenes.
