Speaking of foreigners, you see this badass? He's a Canadian who's lived in Japan for most of his life. Speaks perfect Japanese. He got a role in this show called Kyoryuger, where he plays a Viking warrior from 500 years ago who has a Dinosaur robot buddy. Basically because of this they asked him to speak like a foreigner and he said it was the hardest thing he's ever done.

Incidentally Commander Breivik respects Japan more than any country in the world. He does so for their attitudes toward foreigners.

In the aftermath of Norway's worst violence since World War II, documents are beginning to emerge that show the online life that suspected killer Anders Breivik lived. One comment posted to the right-wing site Document.no shows Breivik had admiration for the "monoculturalism" of Japan.

Conbro here. Got my Retro Game Master DVD set a couple days ago, can't wait to give it out. Problem is, I can't seem to find a good collection of old school games, so I need either visit a Goodwill or use a extensive PS1/PS2 library since all of my old games are in another state so I can actually run this Catch Copy game. Another good episode to watch near the beginning of your Kacho experience is the USA Special 2 hour episode. You really get a good feel for just how enjoyable this funny man is to watch from seeing him in a setting you're familiar with, taking on the role of a videogame Borat with grinning wit.

On arriving at an arcade in America for a personal appearance he makes a hilarious observation regarding the hilarious nature of videogamers that knows no borders.

He'll take on a true American-style challenge, feasting on American junk food instead of dried squid and seaweed and wrestling with Robocop's crap game status and controls.

Everything he does in this episode will "read" to an American viewer, and you will get a good idea of who the man is. In his role as the "boko", the stooge, he is neither the Curly nor the Moe but rather the Larry.

There's something about the Mario series that seems to rub Arino in a wrong way. Remember くぐれ!(go under!/duck!) in SMW? Or the fact that he spent the 99 lives in SMB3 without getting to Bowser?

He should practice those. Mario should be already muscle-memorized for everyone that had a NES/Famicom on ye olde golden era.

To be fair, being in Yoiko, GCCX, other programs and also being a father must not let him with a lot of free time to vidya, that it isn't watched by stern-looking Kan; still, he should replay SMB on any iteration existant to regain edge

Earlier today I was reading about Japanese school uniforms, and the article made a reference to an 80's J-Pop song called Serafuku Onugasanaide. I was listening to it and halfway through the song the lyrics go "MOTTAINAIKARA MOTTANAIKARA MOTTAINAIKARA!!!," and recognized it from the Waste of Color segment.

Another song I found by that band, Onyanko Club, is Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi, which I recognize from the Yuyu Quiz de Go Go episode.

Weird finding these while researching shit unrelated to GCCX.

Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi is also the theme song to Highschool Kimegumi, an anime that has also has an adventure game for the Sega Mark III/Master System. Possible Arino might play it one day? The staff, probably due to Kibe's influence, seems to be warming up to Sega games.

The Game Center CX app for iOS and Android launched today. It's mostly free, but at the moment it seems to basically just be content from the show's website, For 450 yen a month you can get behind-the-scenes pictures with comments from Arino as well as some videos not seen anywhere else.Doesn't seem to be available for download outside of Japan, but IMO you're not missing much.

If you have Japanese knowledge and a little time, it would be helpful if you could skim over LC's GCCX subs to give some examples of poor quality. He's only done a few episodes. If you truly don't have any SA bias, this would be a productive discussion to have. Unfortunately, most posts critical of LC usually just say DON'T TRUST HIM without much elaboration. Well, most of what I know about him comes from talking with translators who have seen his work so I can't give any examples off the top of my head. And I don't know enough Japanese to be a good judge (which probably throws my entire argument out the window, but at least I'm being honest). If I dig up some examples I'll be sure to post them. Basically I've been told that LC is despised by other translators, doesn't have a firm grasp on the language, and has tried to turn groups against each other.

Speaking of American vs. Japanese versions, I was confused by the Ghouls 'n Ghosts episode. I thought the Japanese version had checkpoints right before the bosses, but Arino had to go back to mid level after getting killed by the bosses. I remember playing the American version with the extra checkpoints and making it to Ohme with the sword equipped. You can't kill it with the sword, and the checkpoint just puts you right before the battle. I had to reset the game.

For some strange reason, the older Yu-gi-oh games had this "alignment" system, where a monster could instantly kill another monster regardless of power. It went like:

Fire > Forest > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire

There was a second set of alignments, which have no advantage of disadvantage over the above. Likewise, they above don't have any advantages or disadvantages over these.

Finally, there is the Divine type, which cannot be killed via alignment. Likewise, it cannot kill via alignment.

So it seems a total of five projects were announced, some being repeats:

1 - The soundtrack CD

2 - The show will visit the Japan Expo in France

Again, this is all according to what's being said on Twitter, only the soundtrack and 3DS game have been confirmed.

I've been meaning to ask, what is the third GCCX game going to be about, anyway? Something tells me that it will deviate from the simulation norm and focus on Arino's daily adventures, but portrayed as stereotypical modern games.

Alternatively, it could be a Virtual Console pusher that makes the player meet certain objectives in VC games, and a new challenge is presented each week.

Again.
