Why did M2 decide to put the new Aleste shmup on the Lame Gear instead of the obviously superiour Master System?

Also, Power Strike II for the SMS is Compile's best shooter. Try it out on the Wild difficulty.

The biggest thing is color depth. Since the screen was a lower resolution, they were able to do about twice as many colors at once then you could display on the SMS using the same amount of video memory. But beyond that they're pretty much 1:1.

I think its rather impressive for a GG game from what I've seen. But apparently the rom doesn't run properly when dumped. The people that dumped the rom say its because it's "well protected" but I suspect that it doesn't actually run on GG hardware because it's something that would never have properly ran properly on GG hardware despite that being the spirit of the project.

There are mods for this at least. I've seen it combo'd with a better screen so that you can play SMS games at full-res. Somewhat invasive for my tastes though; I'm of the opinion that with older handhelds, better to be gentle than over-mod them. IMO at some point a modded GG just becomes an emulator with bigger size and heavier power draw.

probably decided that power strike sold well enough in PAL to justify it. You'll notice however that not only is it a different game from GG Aleste 2, but the SMS game wasn't released anywhere but in Europe and Brazil. Thus, it would seem hardly fit to be the basis of judging their overall operations, unless you can produce some sales numbers which indicate that the SMS compile releases sold better than their GG releases.
