The SNES MMX games barely have any platforming and the little there is in X2 and X3 can be entirely skipped with your fuckhuge dash jump, not to mention the wall jump.

Pixel precision jumping in X? Where? Most of the platforming is pretty forgiving. Way more so than the original series. Also, the collecting bit is not even necessary to progress for the most part which makes it way more rewarding in the long run.

Seriously fuck that shit. I'm cool with the faerie village, that felt fun. But ALL the other minigames were total bullshit. I can't believe they would tie your dragon abilities to that shit, fucking stupid.

Picking 2-3 different genes and seeing what happens is a mini game to you?

No anon, what part of my post gave you that idea whatsoever? In Breath of Fire IV your dragon upgrades are directly tied to your score in minigames such as the sandflier course, etc. What in the world did you think I was saying? The genes in III were objectively superior to IV and a highlight of the game, I've never heard of a single person saying otherwise.

The only thing I can think of that is precision jumping is in Flame Mammoth's stage, the Buster upgrade is ridiculously precise and I've never personally performed it without spending a few minutes on it. But that upgrade is given to you automatically later in the game, so I think they knew it was bullshit and thus it's not a necessary part to complete the game

Sounds like you just had difficulty with a part of the game, friend.

>> No.7714807

>>7714789
No. Well yes, I did have difficulty in the sense that I didn't want to do it. But no. I am saying that the upgrade mechanics for the dragons were inane and frustrating beyond belief. In the same vein as upgrading, say, Tidus's Caladbolg in FFX, it's an annoying component of the game that could have been made much less so and still been rewarding. Most of the time minigames in RPGs are done poorly and just not fun whatsoever, and BoF was one of the worst overall at minigames even for JRPGs

it's nowhere near pixel perfect, there's probably 10-15 pixels of leeway
X can actually grab ledges from ridiculously (unrealistically) low. you probably just didn't make it because it looked like you failed and you didn't press the jump button out of capitulation.

It kinda is necessary. If you run out of Rolling Shield, full-charged helix shots are the only other thing that can damage Sigma's last form. Zero giving it to you if you don't already have it is to ensure you're not put in a no-win scenario.
