Digimon World is a strange RPG meets virtual pet game which is pretty much it's own thing and is pretty interesting though gets really obtuse sometimes,
Digimon World 2 is pretty much a mystery dungeon game with three on three monster battles.
Digimon World 3 is more a straight JRPG.

Overall they're all worth at least trying.

Digimon Adventure for the PSP is an RPG directly based on the season 1 anime. There is a fan translation. I've been playing it on my (jail broken) PS3 without issue, though I'm not very far. If you're really into the story and characters of the anime, check it out. (But if you advance farther in the game than you are in the series there will be spoilers.)

Also, when you're done with season 1, watch the Last Evolution Kizuna movie. Legit 9,5/10 masterpiece, it blew my mind and got me into the license, which I didn't care much for in the first place

The games are surprisingly hardcore and pretty fun. Way better than most licensed anime games. You should use a guide though.

The GBA racing game is a surprisingly well made Mario Kart clone and the GBA fighting game (ported from the Wonder Swan Color original) is also great.
The Wonder swan Color also had an interesting strategy game named Digimon Anode/Cathode which is canon to the TV series and explores Ryo's travels between different worlds, so it's also worth playing.

Nah, anon, that game is amazing. Every anime season is shit compared to that gams, it was so great I replay that once a while but I have no interest in rewatching the show.
