Download them to a Vita and give them a try.

>> No.7712065

The normal platformers are perfectly fine, though Blast is pretty damn shoddy.
Labyrinth is crap, the Drift games are rudimentary drifting kart racers, Spinball is just a more screencrunched version of it, Tails Adventure is a surprisingly okay Metroidvania and Mean Bean is portable Mean Bean.

They are all horrible laggy abominations.
S1,2,3&K and M are the only good games.
Everything else - yes, even CD - is not worth your money and time at all.

IIRC Sonic 1 and 2 GG had different layouts to the MS version (this may be me mis-remembering)
I thoroughly enjoyed Triple Trouble
Sonic Chaos didn't gel as much with me
GG Spinball is one of my fondest memories
Mean Bean is excellent
I personally have always enjoyed 8-bit Sonic over his 16-bit incarnations

Only bother with Tails Adventure. The platformers are mediocre. I remember really liking Labyrinth years ago, but it seems really unpopular.

Fuck you. Sonic is best depicted and Tails is much cuter in the JP ones. Also Sonic Blast cover is a fucking abomination.

The 4 main titles (Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble) are all perfectly good games, however if you're gonna play them, i'd go for the Master System versions, due to better visibility.

Tails Adventure is a must, probably the only MetroidVania Sonic game, of course, this is a ridiculously basic one, but it's great for people that want to get into the genre, or those that just want something comfy.

>> No.7714743

Quackshot is better in this sense.

>> No.7715154

I say this every time I get the chance but even though it's slightly different I was at least able to beat Spinball, but the GG version. Considering it was my first try it must be much easier.

How? I've seen this opinion a few times now and it's strange. Do you just plain not like the main sonic games?

>>7714743
I find QuackShot to be a much more fun and polished game overall, one of my all time favorites for sure, but when it comes to being a true Metroidvania, Tails Adventure is much closer to that, in my eyes at least, since the areas to explore are all much bigger and less linear, there's more back and forth between them, aswell as more emphasis on getting the powers to progress, QuackShot has those elements too, but much, much more linear in general.

>> No.7715296

Just the Tails one.

>> No.7715301

I only owned the 8-bit Sega consoles back in the day, sure I've played the 16-bit versions either on emulators, those PC compilations and I now own a mega drive but they just don't do it for me
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

>> No.7715547

I liked labyrinth also, and Sonic 1. The Aspect games are fucking garbage, though.

>> No.7715801

>>7712065
>Spinball is just a more screencrunched version of it
Not even. It's a choppy, ugly, barely-functional mess of a game that doesn't resemble the Genesis one at all.

>> No.7715808

>>7713132

Then you'd know Mickey Mouse Legend of Illusion is a great master system port that is fun on game gear. You'd also know Incredible Crash Dummies is perfect on it and has some of the best music in video games... but you don't know, do you? Is that because you never owned one? Exposed.

What makes a Metroidvania non linear?

>> No.7716729

Europeans and sonic haters like these games. I do not know why

>> No.7716776

>>7716674
The areas you visit in QuackShot, it's all point A to point B, like traditional levels, while in Tails Adventure they're more open, especially thanks to Tails' flying, each area also has more than one exit into the overworld, so there's no clear finish goal in the levels.

>> No.7716780

>>7716776
Also, in QuackShot you rarely visit previous areas, while in Tails Adventure you revisit previous areas more often. I still like QuackShot more, but those are the reasons i see it as a more linear MetroidVania than Tails Adventure.

>> No.7716937

>>7715301
I figured the only other reason would be that you played those first/grew up with them.
