>> No.7710371

In terms of engine and basic mechanics they're all pretty similar but III easily has the least balanced and polished gameplay.

I know it's not /vr/ yet but it needs to be said that GTA IV has aged fucking incredibly considering it's only as few years younger than San Andreas as San Andreas is younger than III. GTA has always made absolute leaps between generations.

San Andreas.
Vice City felt like a step up from 3, while SA felt like spreading out thin.

Just because you don't have to do stupid shit like spraying tags, collection oysters nor having over the top weapons like a flower bouquet, a cane or a fucking dildo, doesn't mean that GTA IV is a bad game, it's more realistic, Niko can get ejected out of car when he crashes into something, Niko feels like he actually has weight, the same goes to cars, as much as people gave shit to the driving, it's very satisfying ince when you get the hang of it, also, entering stires without loading times was great as well, the minimal HUD and stuff like dynamic shadows made the gameplay much more immersive to previous titles.

III isn’t so bad to 100% if you have a basic idea of the order to get it done. Mainly it’s the gang members with shotguns that will fuck your world up if you decide to put off side missions like ambulance or firefighter. 100% in Vice City is easier to attain as it’s less strict on when you do things, you can pretty much get anything done any time you choose without gang members one shotting your vehicle. As for what was added, the bikes, the economy system, wardrobe system, and the expanded arsenal are all welcome additions. I personally think it’s a much better game than III even if it loses a little simplicity with its focus on earning money and building your empire. The one thing I actually do think makes Vice City harder to 100% than III is the hidden packages. They can be hidden deviously well in Vice City where you basically trip over them constantly in III.

Like this mission for example on a gamepad is straight up easy and a pleasure. The game gives you several more minutes than necessary needed to complete and it's almost impossible to lose. My vote goes to SA solely because of the gang war part of the game. It brings progression to a grinding halt and you cannot do anything until you clear the minimum required territory but in practical terms you have to grind out the entire city because otherwise you keep getting notifications about attacks. Some areas being tiny and with the dodgy spawning system SA uses it is such a bad gameplay element.

I forgot how messy the gang wars in SA were. There was one tiny territory next to the port where no thugs even spawned and you had to lure ones from across the road there to even trigger a gang war which I'm not sure was possible if you had already taken over the territory across the road. Overall the Los Santos portion of the game was oozing with soul though, my main criticism of San Andreas is that it lost direction and became too ridiculous afterwards.

The only memorable scene in GTA 3 is with Luigi's Hookers, and the Yakuza chick being killed by Catalina. GTA 3 is obviously not on par with Vice City and San Andreas, the only fun part is the Dodo flying, but it's broken as all fuck because of the stunt camera.

SA. It's filled with filthy niggers and their niggerness, niggerhoods, nigger """music""" (farting into a mic for 12 hours achieves the same result), niggerspeak, nigger'tude, etc. The only acceptable nigger is the nigger that has left both their inner & outer nigger with their primate parents and willingly joined the community they wish to be involved in as one with his or her non-nignog neighbors.

To be fair the GTA IV driving wouldn't be as fun without the crashing, the ragdolls and the NPC reactions, but it's really enjoyable because input has weight and errors have consequences. But if you want horse shit kart driving that's impossible to oversteer or understeer feel free to play ANY OF THE OTHER TITLES IN THE SERIES YOU FUCKING TWAT, YOU'RE SPOILED FOR CHOICE.

I loved the absolute shit out of III back in it's day, but I find it the hardest to go back to. I loved all the immersive shit they added in SA, the multiple cities and all the wilderness to explore in between. I used to love going on road trips from Los Santos all the way around to Las Venturas, just listening to the radio and enjoying the scenery. I loved the setting and story of VC the most, but SA could be the comfiest.

San Andreas has the best gameplay but the 90s rap gangsta aesthetics are uninteresting.

Vice City looks great, good atmosphere, and original music was good.
But the map was too small and you could die in fucking water just by falling in it.

GTA III some of the same problems as Vice City but revolutionary when it came out.

Seriously, what the fuck was Rockstar thinking when they made the player die while touching water? It's fucking stupid, especially since in III, the map is 3 islands and VC you play in a fictional version of Miami with water everywhere.

I see the GTA games as being like a Golden Corral buffet:
The food itself is not great, but there's so doggone much of it that it's a good deal.
With GTA, nothing is really that much fun to do, but there is just so much to do and explore, that it somehow becomes a pleasure.

I was 28 when I first played GTA3 at my younger cousin's house. I was flabbergasted at moving around a realistic environment with NPCs cursing at me and all, traffic lights that worked... I didn't even "play" the game. I just walked around in-game and marveled at the world around me

I never looked at video games the same after that. GTA3 gave me the news flash that video games had become what I dreamed since I was 12, that they would become one day.

Zoomers will never feel this lift
