Whats a fair price for an Nintendo 64 with a controller? I'm buying one to tomorrow for $25. Also how much are the big N64 games like Mario 64 and DK64 and all them? Thanks

>> No.770801

that's a solid price to pay for one. 1st party N64 games are running really high right now though. basically double their normal prices.

do you think i should wait to buy some?

>> No.770879

here you go OP, you can look what every console and game is worth.

The N64 console with cords is worth $40. I paid $30 for mine a few days ago, so $25 is also fair.

ehh I don't think N64 prices will be dropping all that soon, unlike the NES, SNES, and GameCube.
It has such a wide desirability (thanks too it's great multiplayer titles) that games like Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc. will never really be 'cheap.'
If you can get any of those for like $15 that's pretty good.

>> No.770895

A bit off topic, but I got the interact turbo ram (third party expansion pack) and DK 64 for $15 off a friend, how did I do?

>N64 with a controller for $25
That's a great price. I'd say the usual going price for a full set (N64, wires, controller) should be around 30 - 40.
Mario 64 iscurrently going for about $18-20
DK64 as a loose cartridge is going for $15
An expansion pak (needed for MM and DK64) is about $20
No an expansion pak is not worth that much and neither is Mario 64. Welcome to the retro game market.

>> No.770985

>>770937
what is an expansion pak exactly? Do you only need to buy it once?

>> No.770994

>>770985
Yeah, it's a RAM expansion for the N64. That little compartment between the power switch and reset button is where it goes (usually theres just a regular N64 jump pak there). Certain games use it but the games everyone buys it for is Majora's Mask and Donkey 64.

It pisses me off so bad that Majora's Mask requires the Expansion Pak.

I can't find MM for any less than $35 around here, and the Expansion Pak for $25. So just to play MM, I'd have to dish out $60.

Pretty good price, OP. I just looked on Craigslist and saw
a few going for $30-40 so you're going save at least $5.

You're right, it doesn't require it. I assumed otherwise
because it's one of the highest-end games on the N64.

Bro, be sure to check the condition of the controller. If the analog stick just limps to the side when held, you're gonna wanna look into replacing that, which is a bitch in itself as most used N64 controllers have busted analog sticks (Mario Party being largely the culprit behind it).

You're gonna want one that snaps back into place after pulling it and letting go of it.

What color are you getting? N64 colors are damn sexy, my favorite is probably the smoke grey one.

Don't be a faggit. Buy a PC. Buy a USB controller, it's vastly better than the N64 controller. Roms all day long.

N64 emulation works fine in games I've played. Took a while to tweak everything to get it to run properly though.

I got one of these after dusting off my old 64 somewhat recently, did wonders for the controller.

Felt like holy shit you can actually run in bomberman 64.

I think 25 dollars is a little high. Most stores I have seen them at are around 15 bucks.

My best friends wife found me an extra one at a thrift store. It was a surprise gift for me, she spent 3.99. It's a grey one, but I don't mind.

Make sure to pick up an expansion pack! Those can be pretty pricey as well. I bought one for 18 dollars myself.

I edited my original post because I thought OP was asking about if 25 dollars was a good deal for an controller. I'm still half asleep.

>> No.772925

A bit off topic again, but I don't want to create a whole new thread either, since it's about console price, I figured I'd wedge this in here. I paid 30$ for a Dreamcast with box, memory card, wires, controller and Sonic a couple of days ago. Was this a good price?

>> No.772981

Just get a flash cart and play whatever game you want whenever you want.

>> No.773302

>>770790
That's a pretty solid price. I got mine a few years ago for 30 bucks with one controller in nice shape.

Be advised though, a lot of the better games for the system are gonna run you up the ass with the price. Jews gonna Jew. Every now and then you'll find a solid deal though, Like I've gotten Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Body Harvest, and Blast Corps for 5-6 dollars each. They aren't exploiting prices on games as bad as they are with SNES and NES games.

It's alright if you value the box enough.

Back in '06, I picked up just about the same thing for 15 bucks, but without the box.
>DreamCast
>two VMUs
>two controllers (one being transparent green)
>all the wires, natch
>Sonic Adventure 1

With the retro bubble in full swing, 30 dollars for a DC with box isn't too shabby considering there's countless merchants out there who would charge three times the shekles for an unboxed, 1-controller DC without a game.

When I bought a replacement snes after my ac adapter port shit out on me they gave me a few free games that I already had. If I sold it I'd probably give those games to who I sold it to, hence doubles. Pretty sweet if one copy stops working/saving. Blessing in disguise bro.
