I use one. It has a delightful flicker effect. I think it’s classy.

I just use a regular off the shelf power strip. There is no downside to leaving a console plugged in, particularly ones with mechanical power switches that literally too simple to know the concept of a "standby mode". If you're particularly paranoid buy a new surge protector every few years.

Save the switchboxes for your pc setup.

I have that exact model also. God I love st Vincent de paul’s.

I only have a few consoles connected at any given time running through a surge protector.

I use those on all my areas with tons of electronics just to control how many live wires there are. It's really handy when you need to leave 1 or 2 on for a while (computer for example). For consoles I just use a regular power strip though, because it's not like 1 of my consoles absolutely needs to be on.

Oh fuck I have the same exact switchbox on my computer. It didn't get dyed yellow though.

Not OP but the idea of having that many live wires in a confined space (behind TV/desk/etc) makes me real paranoid of being a fire hazard.

is this an american thing? electrical outlets and extension cords just catching fire??

>> No.7697207

>>7697186
No it's paranoia. UL does a pretty decent job of making sure most things sold at retail are safe, just don't go buying power strips off of aliexpress or running 3 extension cord space heaters and you'll be fine.

not quite the same but I use power strips like these with switches for the individual outlets. It's useful if you got a big coomlector wall and want to keep everything plugged in without actually sucking power. I use like 4.

No. But being a neurotic sperg is. And using ridiculous shit to prove your hipster cred definitely is. Faggot OP saw this this on reddit or youtube and was told it was kewl. Now he's hoping strangers on the internet can confirm that buying one will justify his existence. The literal state of todays /vr/

they're telling you no but when i went to america all the sockets were very loose, almost all plugs always rattling out and there's no ground pin. I definitely didn't feel confident in them

>> No.7697527

>>7696575
Seems completely pointless seeing as extension leads with switches exist. Unless you want to rack mount everything and take it on tour with you

I don't think Americans have switches on their outlets

>> No.7697649

>>7697186
The american power outlet/plug system is barebones with like no safety whatsoever. They work fine if the plug AND outlet is of a decent quality so you can just plug them together snuggly but there's like no failsafe whatsoever for shitty plug. Like the most common thing is for them to just droop half pulled out of the socket and when that happens you just have the live prongs exposed to the air for spiders and babies to crawl onto and electrocute themselves.

Yep. Have two of those plugged into a Furman 8x2.

So I flip a main switch which powers the TV and the strips, then flip a switch for the system I want to play.
