Yes, but not for the reason you claim. Pinball is a bad game because there is no risk/reward trade-off. The key to high scores is playing safe and boring. The best games try to encourage dangerous shots, but even so it's rarely worth taking them. If you want to win then you find some safe but mediocre shot, and repeat it as many times as possible.

I love vpx recreations way more than the junk FX3 puts out.

Some of the original creations people put out using VPX are amazing too. Cartoons is a great one, it's supposed to be a shit kicked pinball machine that barely works and there are roaches crawling all over it that you can chase with the ball. It's got all the presentation that I'd want, from the moving Death Star and R2 parts, to the classic pulpy looking artwork of the table itself. The sound quality is divine, especially for the age-- it was 1992, same year as Addams Family. Not to slight Addams, but the audio samples and music is really rough to my ears. Star Wars comes out blazing with some crisp and clear voices from the movies, and that music.

I recall Space Cadet pinball being standard on Windows XP, but I also have memory of Skullduggery and Dragon's Keep Pinball by Maxis being a part of a suite with Space Cadet. I haven't seen them in years, particularly since Microsoft just chose not to fix the bug that broke Space Cadet.
I think all three were originally by Maxis? I might have to go looking around and see if I can find them. I remember being able to download Sim City 2k for free since that's abandoneware too.
