What does /vr/ think of The Cover Project? I think this shit is bananas.

>> No.767721

I think you should check the archive because we've had some pretty nice threads about it for the passed few days

>> No.767729

I find it to be useful, especially for old cartridge based games where either no one keeps the boxes, or finding one with it is WAY too expensive. Been using them to print Gameboy Color and GBA covers sized for DS cases (though to make them work for Gameboy and Gameboy Color, modifications are needed to fit the cartridges). Hardest part for me has been trying to find a place to print them, as none of the local areas want to take any risks on printing anything that looks remotely copyrighted.

My only problem with the site is the community, while usually awesome, can be retarded at times.

>Game doesn't have a cover on the site
>go ask for it on the forums in a certain style
>It's already been made
>Thread locked, deleted, nobody pointing me to where I can find it

>> No.767736

I'd like it a lot better if they'd get all that shit in the forums out on the main site so I don't have to dig through 1500 forum posts to find something they don't have posted elsewhere.

>> No.767740

>>767736
They don't have it on the main site because it doesn't fit the site's standards in one way or another.

I've said it before here, but keep in mind, you're printing out covers for video game cases. Literal Autism is to be expected.

>doesn't fit the site's standards
If it doesn't fit the standards, then why even allow them to be posted, even in the forums?

I mean, fuck, they have covers in the forums for Famicom games and a metric ton of other shit that have only been made because people specifically ask for it. They look great. Post them to the fucking site, so people don't have to dig to find them

>> No.767753

>>767749
Because there are tons of customs that people want, but clearly don't fit the standards.

Generally image quality standards, mind you.

Or the mods are just lazy as shit.

If it's not made in the correct dpi, it doesn't go on the site.

If it doesn't have the correct barcode on the back, it doesn't go on the site.

If it's not made by Shenske, it probably doesn't go on the site.

Ah, so it's elitist bullshit. Autism, indeed.

>> No.767779

I literally just fucking said that.

It always confuses me when someone acts like there's something wrong with "elitist bullshit". Low quality and mediocre work isn't a good thing. It's not something that should be praised, rewarded, or acknowledged.

I must have been lucky then

>ask for cover in a wishlist style on request forum
>Get 1 or 2
>Wait a couple months
>Ask again for remaining
>Get the remaining

Some are just un-obatinable, like covers or cards for digital games. I kinda have to do that shit myself, and I just can't do as well as some of these guys. I'm photoshop-illiterate.

Steam has a back up feature, I use that to make physical backups so i don't have to redownload them

yeah, it is. But I prefer other people's works.
