Did you play the original release or Legacy of Darkness? LoD is is basically a redo of 64 and is much better. They even had the audacity to release it in the same year as 64.

Less a redo and more the game that was always intended, making the original Castlevania 64 something of a rushed Sonic 3 type situation. I remember thinking it was retarded how they stripped down the game from what was advertised. "Cornell Reinhardt" and "Schneider Belmont" were two of four playable characters until Cornell got cut and they reassigned his last name to be Schneider's first name.
