This dude had a good thing going and he could have cashed out years ago, but he has devolved. He has turned into a parody of himself -- he has become a golem of his own creation. He went beyond selling out. He became the joke he was trying to tell. This behavior should not be emulated. A 40-some odd year old man should not be behaving this way. Children and young adults watch this kind of stuff and they emulate it, when all they should really be emulating is Timesplitters™ (2000) on PCSX2.

I agree with your main sentiments OP but when you say something like "a 40-some odd year old man should not" you're going to get an automatic reflex reaction, especially from people around that age themselves and especially if you are a zoomer (which you may well be). It's not about age, it's about being an idiot and abusing his position. If he was 20-something almost everything would equally apply, maybe even more so since he's now become more desperate.

If it's any consolation he clearly doesn't understand himself how he's absolutely destroying his image irrepairably. He had a large amount of adult followers with major purchasing power, even if most of us grew weary of him over the years he had some reputation left - even if just for the nostalgia of the old AVGN. Anyone over 25 years old looking at this shit he's turned into - they're gonna be gone man, and they're not coming back. You reach a certain age where you have to shut out a part of your younger years completely and never come back and that's what AVGN is leading people to do here.

And yes he has become a parody of first himself and also of all the shitty things in the world he used to complain about. You can almost imagine the AVGN voice in your head in disbelief about how shitty this man has become and how it's all about the cash.
