hi there, I'm new here, and I know this is not probably the first time someone is asking you this question... anyhow, do you guys know any version of MGS1 which runs on a common PC without any emulator or shit like that?

>> No.749413

There is a windows version of MGS1 if that's what you are asking.

I don't really... have one on me... google should be able to help. It's probably on the pirate bay.

I still own the CDs for my PC copy of MGS. It's a pretty good port and includes the VR missions.

i would highly recommend the remake they did on the gamecube.

I fucking hate this shit. The picture was funny without the horrible obvious text. Fuck this new internet where people have to be told how something is funny.

This.

Ignore any PC version and emulate the Gamecube one. Imo it's far superior anyways.

doesn't it have over the top cutscenes?

>> No.749520

>>749507
It has the scenes as Kojima wanted them to be, but couldn't do in the originial version.
If you don't believe me; think about the rest of the games and Kojima himself. It's the optimal version of the game.

>> No.749526

>>749520

Jesus christ stop being a lying faggot. The cutscenes in TTS were all directed by Ryuhei Kitamura who is known for his over the top style. The "guest director" thing was one of the selling points of the remake. It had nothing to do with Kojima's original vision.

>> No.749527

>>749507
Yes. And re-recorded voice acting that isn't directed as well and is using an arguably inferior translation.
It's worth checking out for the additional content but only if you've played the original first.

Is that why every other MGS game has over-the-top absolutely everything?
And let's not forget to mention that new Raiden game on PS3, which is basically an over-the-top simulator. It may not have been Kojima himself, but it's very clearly in his style.

>> No.749545

>>749535
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a spin-off game by Platinum games that doesn't have Kojima's direct involvement.
MGS2, 3, 4 and Peace Walker do, and they are all pretty much consistent with the style established in Solid. You are looking for an argument where there is none.

>> No.749550

>>749535

Big Boss / Solid Snake has been consistently portrayed a highly trained soldier with paranormal shit occurring around him. The characters themselves have no super powers.

In TTS Snake backflips on a missile and surfs on it. Please find something as character breaking from Kojima's cutscenes.

>> No.749557

Are you implying that Snake isn't that skillful?

>> No.749560

>>749503
But Twin Snakes is a shit sandwich.

They fucked up the music, they fucked up the voice acting, and they fucked up the cutscenes. The MGS2 stuff is shoehorned in and breaks a bunch of the areas, and first person aiming completely trivializes the whole game.

It literally has nothing going for it beyond shinier graphics.

Besides some of the scenes with Grey Fox, what in MGS even was over the top? If anything MGS was pretty low key, with most cutscenes just having people talking. Hell, as a kid I found it all terribly boring.

the text is PART of the picture therefore you are not understanding the whole picture but understanding one of its part as if it were the whole.

There's a pc version of MGS1, but it's gotta be patched to run on modern set ups. Unfortunately, there are no patches to fix the fmv sequences (mgs2 substance pc port has this same issue).

>> No.752420

PC ports for MGS suck a la MGS2

Unfortunately, they didn't optimize shit. You need a good set up (by today's standards) to play a game from 2001 at a stable framerate.

Why not just emulate it? Only real benefit of the PC version is no wobbly 3D, and even that can be mitigated.
