Why are americans so nostalgic for anything famicom related when it wasn't even released there?

>> No.7491904

I sat and watched some poor dude try to sell his super famicom collection at a retro game convention and it didn't look like anyone bought a thing. There will always be that one guy trying to sell his super famicom to nobody.

Nobody is nostalgic for it.. they just like the aesthetic.

you would be too if you had to put up with those ugly american NES and SNES designs

Cool color scheme, cute cartridges. A wild west before console makers adopted standardized designs and packaging for their games and required every publisher to play along.

>> No.7492259

Maybe there's some kind of nostalgia by proxy due to it being associated with the NES, but I think mainly its just people appreciating it for what it is

it was

we called it a nintendo but it was basically the same exact thing

Nothing specific to famicom hardware as it wasn't really imported at any meaningful amounts like some later consoles were.

If anything there is a subset of poorer americans that hold more nostalgia for cheap taiwanese famiclones rather than the famicom proper

>> No.7492809

They're not. The Famicom just has a cool aesthetic.

Same reasons why American car guys import Nissan Skylines and Japanese car guys import the Subaru Brat.

>people like to habe something they weren't supposed to have
>people like to obtain something they don't think anyone else will get so in their world it becomes one of a kind
>it sparks conversation when other people notice it
>they feel like their experience with that system is incomplete without It
>just bored with what's out there and looking for a surprise

Gold and maroon is a good color combo. Ots not nostalgia, it's aesthetics. I also like the super famicom look over the snes.

ameritards love consooming products, ameritards are so empty they need products to identify themselves with

Huh. Must mean it's not nostalgia.

Most people buying it weren't born yet when the original NES came out, so they have no idea what either a NES or a Famicom looks like.
