Does anybody else here actually like Kirby's Dream Land 3? I like it a lot less compared to the ones that were already out at the time but its still a lovely game.

It feels slow especially compared to Super Star, but it's a comfy game and the puzzles are neat.

KDL3 was my first Kirby so I love it. The soundtrack and art direction are first-class, and the gameplay is fine even though it's really easy.

Not as good as Adventure and Super Star Ultra but still a great game. Kirby 64 is basically a direct sequel to it in terms of gameplay. I could complain about the lack of powerups in DL3, but the animal helpers can make 48 combinations out of them that make up for it. Graphics, music, and sound effects are absolutely top tier. However, it's very easy even by Kirby standards since you have double the amount of health that you had in previous entries and the game just hands you 1ups everywhere.

Without a doubt the best soundtrack in the franchise. I can't even pick a favorite.

DL1 is Adventure/Super Star-tier. DL2 is the only good early non-Sakurai one.

I have a huge soft spot for Kirby games, I played the fuck outta Superstar as a kid, and was with the series til Air Ride. Didn't play Dreamland 3 til recently and it's definitely slow but I love the companions, with 6 of them and 9 abilities, there's 54 different combos to play with. It's neat!
My friend started playing it on the Switch recently - She's basically only played Stardew Valley, Tetris, and Animal Crossing, and it seemed like the perfect intro to platformers - cozy, play at your own pace, puzzles that are stupid easy to start with but teach you the mechanics and make it easy to see how puzzles will act throughout the game, extra thing to collect in each level to warrant replays., and it's got a cute art style that was pretty unique to other SNES titles.
I dig it ~

Stronger level design.
Kirby dashes a bit faster than he usually does.
Top tier music, possibly the best in the series, is the most frequently remixed.
Adorable aesthetic and graphics with a comfy crayola feel.
Puzzles that use the basic set of copy abilities in clever ways.
Animal experimentation is fun and varied.

Only AIDS thing about it is 100% completion requiring even doing the minigames perfectly (Which includes the AIDS guessing which angle to jump at to land on the square minigame). It's quite possibly the SMB3 of Kirby games and no one wants to admit that.

>b-but the autoscrolling parts

Get filtered son.

Definitely weaker than Super Star gameplay wise and probably doesn't break my top 5 as far as games in the series go. But I do like it aesthetically, it's presentation is great and I love it's music plus it gave us some of the best characters in the series like Gooey. I can't help but see 64 as a straight upgrade to it though outside of the lack of co-op.

>It's quite possibly the SMB3 of Kirby games and no one wants to admit that.
Super Star and it remake will always be the peak for me so I'll meet you in the middle and say its the SMB2 of Kirby. A different but fun and refreshing spin on the original game that also manages to be a better game.

Great aesthetic, fun two player co-op, and the buddy riding system is somewhat ambitious.
Still the game feels more like a prototype for 64 which was a much better game in basically every regard

Man I've tried to get into Kirby so many times but I just can't.
Just seems like a game for my little sister to play, absolutely no difficulty.

Okay I'll admit I did like Nightmare in Dreamland on GBA but everything else I've found boring.

>> No.7487276

It's a lesser entry for me for sure. Far inferior to Super Star, Adventure, or the previous Dream Land entries.

Kirby Dreamland 3 is based because it filters all the ADHD Superstar kids and Sakurai cocksuckers

>> No.7487294

It's easily the best from the Dark Matter saga. If you play it after Super Star, yes it is simpler. But it has the best artstyle and OST, the level design is great. The puzzles always add a twist so you don't feel like you're playing the same level twice and Animal Buddies are fun to use : they don't feel like they're a useless gimmick but the game isn't too much reliant on them (like later Kirby games)

Nah, KSS is more like the SMW of Kirby.

SMW permanently established a formula that would go on to be endlessly replicated by the NSMB rehash games.

KSS in turn let Kumazaki rehash it 4 times with his quadrology of RtDL/TD/PR/KA. Those games are good besides most of KA but you can't argue that it's an incredibly milked concept that grew stale FAST. Meanwhile the Dark Matter Trilogy always changed things up, Kirby 64 had the combo abilities and 2.5D, DL3 had the crayon look and wide Animal Friend pool, and DL2... Well I guess it was an iterative sequel coming past DL3, but it still had its own niche compared to other Kirbys. Id argue that DL 1-3 = SMB 1-3. Calling it SMB2 is a disservice because it actually was built upon instead of being discarded away.

Then KSS = SMW, Kumazaki quadrology = NSMB games but obviously more soulful.

There are no good kirby games.

There are only mediocre games and I'm being generous, because they had the good sense to invent the meta knightmare.

I prefer Kirby Super Star or Kirby 64, but KDL3 is still a great game. One of the comfiest games ever made. The problems I have with it are how slow Kirby moves, and how some of the Heart Stars can be really obtuse at times if you don't know what powerup/animal buddy combo you need.

How are any of those games a rehash of KSS? They're nothing alike beyond having fleshed out movesets for each power, but that should be the baseline for any Kirby game and it's a tragedy that it took until the Wii for that to become so.

that's what happens when both your primary directors of the franchise fuck off forever from kirby and you're left making Nightmare in Dreamland romhacks until you can piece together a team to finish/restart development that began for the cancelled GCN kirby and turn it into Return to Dreamland.
Hal was a fucking mess for almost all of the 00's
