I don't think it's so much the N64 as it is that generation was the first real 3D gameplay push. I fully agree with you that nothing on that system was impressive, but I'd also suggest that half of the PS1 library is unplayable trash as well. The first 3D games just sucked, period. That gen was so awful I actually quit gaming for a few years until the PS2 had been out for awhile.

Omega Boost is a ridiculously good game and I'm still absolutely baffled that it was the only non-racing game that Polyphony fucking developed ever. It's way too good to be a one-off project like it was.

Kinda wish the draw distance was better. The Saturn VDP2 playfield helps make the draw distance seem less bad, but it's still a bit bad.
