What are some of your favorite collection games?

I bought a gamecube with birthday money saved over the years when I was like 12 just so I can get the sonic mega collection since my genesis hadn't worked for years and sonic was still my favorite franchise.

Megaman Anniversary Collection for GC was my fuckin jam. I played Power Fighters 1-2 with a neighbor everyday for a summer. Picrel got my hopes up so damn much. Would have been a day one purchase. Some autists tried to revive it a few years back. I want to believe.

No thanks. Guaranteed to be bungled compared to free solutions in multiple ways. I remember that Metal Slug PS2 anthology having noticeably terrible input lag on a CRT compared to MAME/FB back then.

No question about it, this is one of the best of all time and in my opinion the first true -modern- video game collection, with all the features you expect in every game collection nowadays.
There were things beforehand even on SNES like Williams/Midway Arcade Greatest Hits, as well as the Namco Museum shovelware that was constantly shit out during the 5th gen, but this was the gigantic leap ahead. Namco Museum was barebones lazy ports of ancient arcade games shat out as a product.

Sonic Mega Collection was clearly a labor of love made by a team of people who truly loved the franchise. Hundreds of pieces of artwork, incredible original music in the menus, great unlockable extras like Ristar and Knuckles in Sonic 2, scans of all the manuals, even scans of every goddamn Archie Comics cover in existence at that point in time.

Me and my brother played Power Battles 1 and 2 all the fucking time. Awesome as fuck game.

>> No.7474832

>>7474732
Power Battles was incredible but damn, this compilation had fucked controls on the Gamecube. I also remember that ad from when I was a child, was it supposed to be color ports of the Gameboy games?

Yep, came to post this.
This was my first exposure to Sonic, lots of good memories playing the (admittedly kinda half-assed) 2-player race mode in Sonic 2.

OP's pic is actually a collection of ports, not emulation.

Didn't the GameCube version make B jump and A shoot? With no way to remap the controls? How could anyone stomach playing with such shit controls?

>Bought it hearing they were going to redub X4 and retranslate X6
>X4 still sounds bad and X6 still reads like a mangled mess
>Find out they backed out of that plan because Capcom was going to save them for PSP remakes, except the remake of X1 flopped and the whole thing was abandoned
>Games themselves don't even run right anyway
One of my few gaming regrets.

OP here, same. That was my first Sonic game and I sucked at it, I couldn't get past the second level in any of the games.

I still have the cartridge and replayed it and beat all the games on it for shits and giggles. It's a really cute collection of games.

Yes, I remember that I would always hit Y instead of A for the triple shot attack they added in
The Gamecube controller was complete shit for any 2D games

This will always impress me. Sega basically crafted a giant trojan horse that indoctrinated an entire new generation of nintendo fans to become Sonic autists despite bowing out of the console race. I wish they had that same level of craftiness today

The Gems collection was really neat too, made all the more obscure games more accessible. First time I got to play CD.

This thread is just confirming that only Sonic and Megaman have worthwhile collections.

But also Kirby.

This one is pretty good. These versions of the games are better than the NES originals. This collection is probably my favorite Mario game.

Almost perfect, except for the fact that it uses the PS1 version of Mega Man X3 instead of the SNES version.
