Youtube complied reluctantly with DMCA artist takedown notices, and didn't pursue violators since they brought in site traffic. YouTube explodes, gets millions of hits, starts having ads, and encourages artists to upload their own songs, and we get VEVO with an ad before each flim. Without those 'illegal' uploads, YouTube a shit. Do what you want until you're told to stop, basically.

On DM, you have to go through some process of proving you hold a copyright in a specific country in which the videos are visible or something. I don't see a lot of stuff get taken down from there.

As what I can gather from his career in Yoiko, he and his partner have gone past the straight man and idiot pair and trade off being jackasses repeatedly, and I see him being both when he plays off his ADs, where a lot of the humor comes from, the other part him being just plain bad at games but never quitting in spite of circumstances.

You'd think it'd be possible to also change the magazines with a bit of trickery. Shouldn't be too hard, all things considered, probably just that nobody bothered so far.

What still confuses me is that they apparently took the original script and mostly translated it with the occasional localization, but without the ADs there, the references that occasionally come up go from easy to spot if you know the show to pretty tough to see. Best example is the first editor (which I'm pretty sure is Toujima in the JP version), who leaves for Japan to become a pop star, just like Toujima left for America to work on movies, IIRC.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

It says that you can "convert" videos, but that actually requires a separate install. If you just need to download, just stick with the bare extension. Everything on dailymotion is MP4 already, so you should be able to watch it on just about anything without any conversion. If a video is downloading slowly with it, just cancel and try again. It should only take a few minutes at most for a full episode in high quality with a decent connection.

First I thought it was just a cultural phenomenon, but now I'm starting to think this is done on purpose, like the group is related to the tv channel somehow and they're marketing it.

Those who want to see Arino play the unlikely Western adventure game The Lost Vikings may have better success lobbying for Arino to play the recently translated Marvelous: Mōhitotsu no Takarajima. 1996, SA1, Lost Vikings / Cave Story / Zelda style, Link to the Past engine, Ocarina of Time maker as maker.

The puzzles are just right for the Puzzle Chief, and the lack of boss fights would negate the usual Zelda editing problems in such episodes. The game, being made by Nintendo and enjoyed by Miyamoto personally, would be a natural pairing for them and Fuji TV.

Yes this would most likely make those who select the games take notice. I'm not sure of the popularity of マーヴェラス ~もうひとつの宝島~ in Japan it's one of those things that wasn't released in the US like Mother 3 due to a new system's impending release. Here's yet another blurb from a "Top Japan Only SNES" site. I'm sure you'll be able to find out more about the game's reputation and reception in native tongue than I in English.

"You might say it’s to top-down adventure what EarthBound is to the RPG. The player takes control of a group of three kids who, like The Goonies, are searching for a rumored hidden pirate treasure that’s said to be guarded by numerous puzzles and traps. Heavily influenced by Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past on the SNES, creator Eiji Aonuma says Marvelous is what led Shigeru Miyamoto to bring him on as director of Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. Surprisingly for a game of this pedigree, there hasn’t even a fan-translation of the main adventure (let alone the “DLC” quests that were on the Satellaview) as of this writing.

>translation released quietly June 2012

"Why It Wasn’t Released In The US: Because it was too late into the SNES’s life-cycle? Because it would’ve required too much localization? Because initial sales to EarthBound were considered disappointing? Because Nintendo? All I can give you is speculation."

I don't understand, the game was a massive hit in Japan and it's extremely common there. A complete boxed copy is said to cost 1000 Yen in one of the recent articles praising it.

If your enthusiasm for this endeavor was flacid then I'm afraid it would fall on likewise uninterested ears. My only hope is that the game's Japanese reputation speaks for itself. I am, however, likewise limped out.

I don't know man, I didn't think getting boxed Super Famicom games was a big deal in Japan. That's what Amazon wants for one. But the point of hoping that his snack budget isn't the same as the game budget is to hope for the possibility to buy games that cost more than his game budget.

I wonder how Nakayama dealt with criticism when he suggested Fatal Fury Special for Neo Geo? I wonder how he succeeded? It must help to work there. Thankfully I don't love the game overmuch so potential failure doesn't anguish me; I just think Arino would like it and that it has an honest chance of being chosen.

It's the Discotek release, I think. With new subs by zari-gani.

maybe it's different with TV shows, but experience with subs for animes on DVDs is pretty bad and bland and lifeless, and I assumed it would pretty much be the same for this.

What, you don't like a 4-disc set of completely random episodes without any of the other segments?

Yes, I know Japanese DVDs have the segments cut as well. Japan also officially gets that content at one point, and their DVDs aren't haphazard collections of random episodes, either.

Huh? Do you watch the fansubs? The DVD subs are by zari-gani, the lead subber on the SA team.

The only dub that exists is fucking horrendous. Trust me, you DON'T want that.

The fan-made subs are pretty good overall.

why the hell would those be on the official DVDs? I have a very hard time believing fansubs would be on official DVDs.

"Fansubs" isn't the right term. The company brought in a fansubber and had her make the subs for them, so it's essentially official.

>haphazard collections of random episodes
It seems like there was a combination of trying to get a mix of games for different systems and using what they could get cleared for US DVD rights. It's not an optimal collection, but they're trying. If it continues to sell well, we're sure to get more interesting assortments of episodes in future sets.

Still, there's something of a natural progression to things, and many episodes either directly reference earlier episodes or are better when you've seen earlier events.

Always bothered me about the way the episodes are subbed, and it's even worse when it's the actual release of a DVD.

>> No.773164

Again, the Japanese DVDs have it basically the same way. Each time they release a volume, it's an assortment usually from multiple seasons.

If you look on the box, the subs give credit to Nina Matsumoto - not also does she sub GCCX, she also created the Arino in America and Arino 40th birthday art pics.

Uhhh, yes they are. Do you even watch the show? They show exactly what is on each DVD, and Arino and the staff just choose random episodes they like

Don't make shit up

The amount of times I'm hearing uninformed bullshit being spouted in these threads about the DVD box is getting pretty frustrating.

>B-but its dub only!
>B-but official subs suck! They should just have SA team work on the DVD
>B-but no challenge segments, Japan gets those!
>B-but the episodes aren't in order! Japan gets them in order!

Does anyone actually do the slightest bit of research? Because this is getting pretty ridiculous

It is frustrating, but we can only do so much. If people don't at least read the boatload of info in the OP, I don't know what else we should do. Even an expanded pastebin might not help, as those same people aren't going to read it.

They have like three translators iirc. Zari-gani is easily the most active one though.
There's also Random Stranger and I think another guy who syncs up the text to the actual video.

I dunno if you were half black and half white and went to school in the United States as an American then I imagine you would be upset if the school recognized your achievements and contributions to the school and were also known to have called you a nigger. Perhaps you would feel you were not as accepted as an American as you thought you were. I imagine it would end up on the news.

Yeah after her talent was recognized by Groening and she became a legit Simpsons artist I imagine she wouldn't be offended at all if she knew for a fact that he, someone she respected, referred to her privately as a Nip.
