Tight controls with good jump and run mechanics makes it still one of the best of its kind, even today. OST holds up, and even modern knockoffs often fail to achieve the same visual quality. It's a really good game. Only a matter of time until /vr/ starts to hate it, though.

Wall jumping can be a bit hit or miss sometimes but at least it's better than SOTNs insane commands. I agree the grapple is a bit off too, doesn't feel like it matches the rest of the games physics/control

One of my favourites of all-time. Superb atmosphere, minimalistic story/presentation and excellent controls. Although, I've only clocked the base game itself a couple times; I spend way more time playing the various quality romhacks, i.e. Eris, Vitality, Hyper Metroid, Ascent and Super Zero Mission, et cetera. I daydream constantly about the hack I want to make one day if I ever stop being lazy.
