Same here. I was also the kid who would skip to world 4, then from 5 to 7 using Luigi. I usually did that since I hated the sand worlds, but it was a trip years later to go back and play world 3 for the first time. Then I played using the randomizer, and realized just how little of the game I was familiar with.

Does this really matter? Mario was just the basic default character as any other platformer at the time and Peach and Luigi were just crutches to cheese the shitty level designs with the fluttering/floating. Toad however is a Hard mode in disguise due to his shit jumps. If you really wanna brag then do a Toad only run of the game. If you can beat this stage in particular as Toad, then you get to keep your Nintendo Power gamer license. Otherwise no one wants to hear the umpteenth person blab about how they floated over so and so, you're not funny and nobody cares.
