So, a /v/ thread made me re-download the amazing game Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It's exactly as fun as I remember it, only problem is that I can't change the resolution from 640x480, wich means some parts of the HUD are pushed off-screen. Anyone know how I could fix this?

Also JJ thread.

Ever thought that Jazz' buddy looks like Bubsy Bobcat's insane twin?

Fuck yes, Jazz Jackrabbit.
Been so damn long since I played that game.

Also, to answer your question, can you window mode it?

Tried doing a Run command with -windowed added, but it did nothing.

Anyway, I gotta sleep, but I'll be back tomorrow.

Are you sure it isn't just a case of pressing the auto-adjust button on your monitor to get the pixels in the right place? (Or for real old school fun, twiddling with the H and V dials until the screen is centred?)

jazz jackrabbit, the first one, was my obsession in mid 90's. I HAD TO have this game, of course did not, all I had were two "Holiday Hare" demos from a shovelware cd, which i played to death.
Much later, somewhere in 2005 or 06 i bought the last lone copy of cd rerelease in electronics market. one of the games i really treasure.
now i'm hunting for a copy of jj2 w/ secret levels and x-mas chronicles. i know this game is unfinished and buggy but i love it so much, alexander brandon's music and overall happy feeling makes it supremely enjoyable.
this series died too early ;_;

You might want to look for either the most recent patch or the expansion pack and give it another try. I don't remember ever not being able to increase the resolution but I played quite a while ago.

Also, check JJ2 Online, they have a very active modding community which can help spice up the game if you ever get bored of it.

I never played the first game but what do you mean by unfinished and buggy?

I've only played the demo of JJ2, but i remember it being a solid platformer, and i don't remember any bugs.

many of the levels in second game had empty areas, some even didn't have backgrounds. empty rooms can be especially seen in the level ending areas - you just go forward and then the level ends. way too often it's possible to stuck in wall or glitch through some floors. i played the demo many times and it's levels are way more polished than in final game, especially in later worlds.

I don't think you'll hear a lot of Mario fans claiming they have the best music.

Sonic has a stronger case in that department. So does NES era Capcom. Konami and Sunsoft too.

Don't forget to replay Jazz Jackrabbit 1, OP. Its a little more visibly dated, but the music, the level design, the platforming, all still top notch.

OP here again - actually found my legit copy and installed it, along with the

patch link. Got it working in windowed mode atleast and that's Good Enough. Time to nostalgia, thanks for the help!

>>745631

I've only heard good things about it, so will do!

Though I fucking hate fiddling with Dosbox.

Fun fact: The guy who made the music for this also made the music for Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament. It's actually like amore cartoony Deus Ex at places.
