How would you compare the 8 and 16 bit eras of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest? Is this a definitive ranking from best to worst?

I genuinely dont know how anyone can stomache any of the non-3D DQ games, and even then with the higher production values the whole thing is very suspect. Like how the fuck did japs play those first 3 NES games, how? No wonder they're so fucked in the head. Its the gaming equivalent of kicking a can around.

FF2 < DQ2
FF3 < DQ3
FF4 = DQ4 (it's real close, FF might have an edge to be honest)
FF5 < DQ5
FF6 > DQ6

But I'm not a giant FF6 fan since I don't really like RPG with large casts. And I don't really hate FF2 as much as others while I really dislike FF3.

As a series DQ is more good with not as many dips but not as many heights. FF bounces around like a rubber ball going from great to complete shit even within the same game.
