Sometimes I think 3 is better than World, then I remember all the copy & paste Boom Boom boss fights and the lack of variety with boss fights in general. That’s when I remember, World is better.

Mario bros 3 should have been released for the super nintendo

so you're so autistic literally 1 detail turns you off?

Workd is better in every conceivable way.

I like the short levels in SMB3 where every stage consists of basically one memorable feature, and then it's done. They are both really great though.

Warp whistle is nice but having a save state to play through SMB3 beginning to end is the better way to go imo. Maybe it "needed a save feature" (kinda) but I still like bulldozing one level after another better than going back and getting alternate exits.

A lot of Mario 3 is copy and paste. Like the Hammer Bros fights. Really unimaginative and too much of a formula.

I think he thinks they are both about equal, but then he "remembers" that one detail that gives the edge to world.

It sounds a bit odd but I've sometimes "remembered" an experience or feeling about playing a game and that makes me adjust a bit how I think of it. So he "remembers" the boss battles is enough to put it over the edge. Just saying it's likely less autistic and silly than it sounds.

It’s just so gay. They couldn’t be bothered to make Boom Boom challenging, give him a different attack, give him a different look, nothing. They just added a few blocks that they somehow thought would add variety to the fight. It doesn’t. The koopa kids are kinda shit, too. They barely put more effort into those fights. I’m not saying World has infinitely better bosses, but at least they had more than 2 kinds of boss fights. This isn’t even getting into the regular worlds of Mario 3. The psychology and storytelling of the levels is very one dimensional. It’s all based off of one gimmick. Whether it’s go inside a million doors until you find the right one or go down/up a million tubes until you find the right one, it’s the same shit. The auto scrolling boss levels are all pretty samey, too. It’s like they had one idea for everything. World just has better in-game psychology. I’ll never accept Mario 3 as a top game.

Fact, Mario 3 was a prototype for World. SMW is simply a more polished game all around.

Boss fights suck, they have never been the selling feature of Mario games. Mario is about runnin' around and hittin' blocks and findin' secrets, boss fights can GTFO.

Why? Castlevania, Mega Man, even Yoshi’s Island have good boss fights. Why not Mario 3? Mario 2 even has better bosses.

>> No.7399232

Mega man needs boss fights because the platforming gameplay is much less fun. Same with castlevania.

SMW boss fights suck anyway

I agree, Mario's boss fights have never been very good. I think Mario isn't really there mechanically to have a good boss. At best you can just have enemies in the way.

the bosses are probably the biggest shortcoming of both games, so much character left on the cutting room floor for palate swaps and borderline minigames, really out of sync with the quality of the rest of the games.

One of the reasons Mario 3 is the best is because it is the fastest Mario platformer. Mario moves his ass off and it makes it the most fun to play

Mario 3 was so much better for variety.
Heck SMW has 1 song for every level. Sure it's changed up a bit for the 'different' worlds, but it's still the same tune.
Not to mention the worlds in SMW were copy+paste.
Plains, cave, ghost, castle.
Occasionally they'll swap it up a bit (the one ice level, the underwater castle). But compare it to SM3 it's no comparison.

Sometimes I think OP is not a faggot. But then I remember that the 7 Koopalings mostly had unique movement and projectile patterns in 3 and that SMW reused minibosses (Reznor) and Koopaling fights (Iggy = Larry, Morton = Roy = Ludwig, with variations in difficulty, and Wendy = Lemmy).

It turns out SMWfags are full cope... who knew?

OP here. I changed my mind. I do think 3 is better. Honestly, every day I wake up, I feel differently. One day, World is better. The next day, 3 is better. Today is a 3 day. One of the best things about 3 is all the different suits. In World, the cape is all you need - the fireball is totally redundant. The cape also breaks the game, which makes cheesing even the most difficult levels possible. But then again, the highs of World are just a little higher than the highs of 3. 3 never had *that* one level. World has multiple of those. Those special stages are so memorable. Nearly all of them are. I’m currently considering therapy.
