Absolutely not. There's no way you're going to make any real progress in the story. You can drive around town and go pretty much anywhere from the start if you just want to see it and check out some of its mechanics but other that that things aren't looking too bright.

>> No.7398885

Dark Souls III is running on a 20 year old game engine. Half the shooters engines trace back to Quake. Most of the origins of the current engines date to the PS2 or PS3 eras or early 00's PC engines.

The main issue the the animations is that movement is too fast and it looks like there's no weight. Unless your game is built around someone with rocket skates, that should be avoided. It looks like a "stinger" attack like Dante from DMC. In that case it should be much closer range.

Some of the animations are nice. The shooting and reloading I'm certain is traced from Doom 2016 so it looks okay. If it's traced it's legal but if it is literally the same animation file then it's piracy and illegal. The skeleton/zombies falling apart look okay. Still needs some work though.

So overall mixed bag. I think it's going for Turok 2 and Quake combo?

Why the fuck does this game not work for me? Are the controls supposed to be a nightmare? Because it's barely playable for me and I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be or if it just runs like shit on my machine. I'm installed the GOG version, btw.

Yeah the controls are kind of wonky and take some getting used to. I find it's okay if you just hold forward and use the mouse to turn if you're not in combat though, and after getting used to it for a while it starts to feel pretty good to play. And set your mouse speed X to 3 and Y to 5 so that the movement is more even instead of different speeds depending on which direction you're moving it in.

The GOG version comes with an OpenGL renderer to try and fix some problems but it still doesn't work quite right. I use nGlide with it instead and it works perfectly. You can also check the pcgamingwiki site to see if there are any other issues with solutions if that doesn't work:

>I really wanted to like this game but I got fed up being dry of ammo constantly
Unlike basically all other Build games Ion Fury is all about headshots on the human enemies which dramatically reduces ammo consumption. This combined with a few weapons being hard counters to certain enemies means it can be quite rough to get into - certainly not a game to play on hard for your first time. It also rewards secret hunting as there is a lot of ammo hidden around (thought getting all secrets legit is such bullshit I am convinced some only got found by running the game through eduke).

Pretty sure I just played on normal or whatever UV is. It wasn't hard, just boring killing everything with the pistol secondary in-between my state sanctioned ammo rations.
You're right that its designed around secrets. If you're not willing to spend 30 minutes dicking around after clearing an area, you don't get shit, and I say that as someone who does that more than I like to admit.
