Yes, we've talked about this. The title screen of the first game very clearly says "THE HOUSE... OF THE DEAD". The first "the" just tends to get shortened out sometimes, especially in casual conversation.

I liked them and played a lot of Virtua Cop 1 & 2 and House of the Dead 2 back in the day but the death of CRT TVs and light guns ruined them. Games on the Wii or PS3 using the Move controller just weren't the same even though I did play a lot of House of the Dead Overkill on them.

One of my favorite genres, if you invest in light guns and big CRTs, it's like having an arcade in your home.

The Sega light gun games on Wii are really good, might be preferable to some too since they remove the flash that you get with hardware light guns. You can also emulate NES, SNES and Genesis light gun games using the remote.

Anyone here buy the Sinden light gun? Worth it for arcade emulation?

In House of the Dead you mean? I've only played 3 on the Wii port and it's been a while. That sucks, way easier to recommend the Wii version to people that don't collect retro hardware

>> No.7387526

>>7387504
Yes, House of the Dead Wii. In the arcade, you shoot off-screen to reload. In the Wii version, you just push a button and there's a 2-3 second long animation of the gun reloading. The last boss has an attack where he barrages you with panels and there are too many to clear without reloading. In the arcade, it's pretty easy to deal with, but you have to be FAST to hit them all in the Wii version because of the reload eating up your time.

I didn't think the Wii-Zapper was that bad of a substitute. Especially with a decent shell, like the Nyko quick shot. It does have a decent selection of light gun games. I feel like VR is also bringing the light gun genre back as well. Konami released a Justifier for the PS1 (was it for the Saturn as well?) , but I do not remember it supporting a lot of games. The Namco GunCon had the most support.

>>7388673
>Just say "light gun shooter", dumbass.

"On Rails Shooter" is pretty vague, though. It could be a game like Star Fox or Panzer Dragoon. Light Gun is a sub genre of on-rails shooters. yes, the majority of light gun games are on-rails. But games like Duck Hunt are not on-rails shooters, but requires a lightgun.

Going to drop pic related here, some anon recommended it last year. I've played the newer Time Crisis games and the Japanese port of TC1/Point Blank with this gun, it's pretty decent but I still need to test it with PS1 guncon games. Unfortunately I don't think it can play Justifier games.

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you're trying to say. Both 1 and 2 were formatted as "The The House of Dead". (excluding the back of saturn box and possibly with 2 aswell) 3 and 4 changed the format to "The House of the Dead". Still containing the "The" at the beginning. Overkill contains the "The" in "The House of the Dead". Not sure why you consider the films and the latest game as proof of the original title didn't contain the "The" at the beginning. However, I do accept that "House of the Dead" isn't incorrect and is perfectly fine to call the earlier games as such. Most people dropped the "The" when talking about "The House of the Dead"

>> No.7391586

>>7391118
The Mandela Effect has nothing to do with being a "schizo". There's a lot of evidence the Mandela Effect being real. Just because you don't buy into it, doesn't make it any less true. For example there are people who celebrate Christmas with an upside down Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling. Which is pretty fucking weird. Why does the majority of Star Wars fans remember "Luke I am your father" instead of "No, I am your father"? Why does various incarnations of 3CPO shows him as all gold, but in the original movies, he is seen with 1 silver leg? I'm not even a Star Wars fan, but even I don't remember a silver leg on 3CPO. Either way it has nothing to do with having a "shitty human brain", most people have sharp memory. My memory is very sharp, I can recall events that took place in my past as if it happened yesterday. Ever heard of CERN? Well they're behind these anomalies because they're smashing particles together, which is combining our universe with an alternate universe. There are tons of videos that show how the Mandela Effect actually works and how half the population either remembers things one way or the other. For example, you might be from an alternate universe that remembers Jiffy Peanut Butter. But I only remember JIF Peanut Butter because it is my favorite peanut butter. House Of The Dead is my favorite light gun shooter game, I don't remember the extra "the" in the title, but apparently you do. If tomorrow the name of the 1989 Batman movie goes from "Batman" to "The Batman", you'll probably falsely accuse me of having a shitty memory because to you, it was always "The Batman", instead of "Batman". But as of right now as I hold the Blu-Ray version of the 1989 Batman movie, it definitely says "Batman".

>> No.7391765

You would certainly think so.
Instead, VR devs are obsessed with trying to get the player to move around freely until they feel ready to puke.

but I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. I posted my saturn copy which shows the formatting of the title. christ heres a pic of the arcade machine with the same format. I even posted >>7390901 which confirms what you're saying to some extent. However, you keep replying with nonsense about how later titles and a pair of crap films are the actual formatting and fonts of the original games title? Like I said, I don't understand what you are trying to prove. I'd bet most people wouldn't remember the exact formatting of the title either but they're not going to flat out deny it when they see it.

You have no idea how the Mandela Effect works. Changes can happened without you ever noticing. For example some people remember the Bernstein Bears instead of the Berenstain Bears. Some people remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 80's, but apparently he died in 2013. Some people remember Flinstones instead of Flintstones. There are some residual proof to some of these Mandela Effects. So yes it's spelled "The House Of The Dead". But it's also a Mandela Effect because I remember it simply as "House Of The Dead", with the "Of The" part being in the middle. Which is how the movie and the new game's logo both spell it. It's perfectly fine if you accept the logo the way it is, but it's not how I remember the original logo looking like, because in my reality, the "Of The" was always in the middle. Now do you understand?

Alright I'll humour you
For a Mandela effect to occur a collective of people have to remember things differently, everyone here thinks otherwise and they remember it differently to you, which means there is no Mandela effect here and you just remember it wrong

Also there is more residual evidence. It says clearly "House Of The Dead 2" on the cover. Not "The House Of The Dead 2". Read em' and weep.

Ok. I've got to say though that this isn't the mandela effect. Thinking someone died decades ago, thinking a film with a certain actor was released and a book about bear with two different names are examples of the mandela effect. Misremembering a logo and dropping "the" from the title is too vanilla of a mandela theory to be considered.

Since Scarlet Dawn was released so recently, doesn't that mean your logic is backwards? If reality was rewritten, then it was obviously attempting to remove the "the" from the title and not add it. Your memories and the random magazine fliers are the only things that got rewritten, though. (Not the movies, though. Those intentionally changed the title slight to avoid people finding pic related when trying to look up the movie online)

You're the guy swearing up and down reality was rewritten to make us all remember wrong, when you're the one who got rewritten.

>> No.7412463

>>7412165
Yes, but calling it "House Of The Dead" sounds better than "The House Of The Dead". The extra "The" makes the title sound off and way too long. Either way people have been referring to it only as House Of The Dead since playing it in the arcades and Sega Saturn.

>>7412245
I've been remembering it only as "House Of The Dead" long before Scarlet Dawn's release. The fact that I can find articles and magazine covers that dates back to the 90's with the words "House Of The Dead" without the extra "the" in the title, shows that it is a Mandela Effect. The fact that the movie "House Of The Dead" has "Of The" in the middle just as I remember it being spelled originally in the games and then is used that way again in Scarlet Dawn, shows that the residual evidence is correct in proving it's a Mandela Effect. To you, this reality is trying to "remove" the extra "the". To me, this reality successfully added the extra "the" but failed to add it in the newest game. By the way, I've been playing House Of The Dead since it's release in the arcades and Sega consoles in the 90's. That extra "the" sticks out like a sore thumb.

Exactly. Your memories were modified, just like the flier. Scarlet Dawn was released after the change. Your memories are no longer viable evidence and you have no proof your "residual evidence" wasn't rewritten by reality just like your memories. Your whole argument is completely invalid.

>> No.7412656

>>7412559
False. I've noticed this change before Scarlet Dawn's release and have spoken about it in the Mandela Effect Discord Server, and they said I had a good eye on spotting this. This was back in 2017. The residual evidence I provided is actual proof that the older games changed from "House Of The Dead" to "The House Of The Dead".

>> No.7412707

>>7412656
>I've noticed this change before Scarlet Dawn's release
And that's the proof your memories were modified. If reality was rewritten to add a "The" to the title of the series, then it would make no sense for games released after that point to use the "pre-rewrite" title.

Now unless you can provide 100% hard proof that the pages you claim are "residual evidence" weren't rewritten alongside your memories, then this discussion is done and you need to leave.
