These games were developed with the idea of wasting your money. The devs didn’t care about you having fun, but for you to feed coins into the machine over and over. It is quintessential bad game design, which is why you cannot appreciate them.

The trifecta of this genre is Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros. (MD version with extra levels), and Tumblepop. There is a huge power gap between these three and other games of this type.
