A combination of consistency and just a general lack of boxes. Great boxes I agree. Anyway to make your own duplicates? Did it for a few PS1 games over the years with mixed results but CD case is far easier to find around the house or in bulk

Picked up a cib Golgo 13 nes game the other week. Have only had a chance to play a little bit bit really like what I've seen so far. Other than that the collecting has been pretty slow since prices have gone full retard.

The clamshell is fantastic and quite a few people kept them so to buy a gen game cib usually isn't that much more than buying just a cart.

I have a reasonable collection made over the course of about 15 years but it's all packed away now since I have no room for it since COVID forced me back home. There's a lot of gems in there (boxed Earthbound and Conker's Bad Fur Day for example) that I'd love to play again someday once I get my own place again but digging them out and hooking them up is just so difficult I lose interest by the time it's fully set up.

I have pretty much every N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, and Gamecube game I want. It's not many but they're what I like. I tried collecting PS1 JRPGs since that console is perfect for them but it's really hard to collect disc-based games since there are always so many chances for them to be unplayable.

Pretty much the only retro things left I wanna get are a Saturn and Neo Geo AES. I'll just get a flash cart for those since the games are ludicrously and unreasonably expensive. I kinda want to get a Virtual Boy just to see what using one is like but I think the novelty will wear off really quickly.

I feel good with my collection, I sold most of my games and went to flash carts. Actually just sold an old flashcart to get the new version, and it's a low-production one (not mass-produced like EDs for example) and so I basically got what I paid for it originally. Nice.

My biggest pile is that I still own a shit ton of game boys, well over 20 now, mostly GBCs but also some GBA, SP (001 and 101), Pocket, one each of micro, DMG, Light. I'm currently repairing a nice GBC I picked up as broken and I'm having fun teaching myself some understanding of how to make stuff work again.

There are six more games that I'm after and then I'm done after 20 years of collecting. Three new (Alex Kidd DX, Cotton Reboot and a physical version of VVVVVV if NICALIS ever releases it) and three old.

After that, I will refuse to buy any old or new games for more than $50-60 and will most likely stop following modern gaming altogether. Anyway, if you want to see what no wife, no kids and no travel looks like in your 30s - here it is.

Honest: you need to rethink before you post. PS1, Dreamcast, and NES are straight trash - SNES and Genesis are okay.

No disrespect - you've got got some good games, but purge the trash - no reason to hold onto games that you'll never play for the sake of stocking shelves.

Also, loose genesis is a bad look - it's almost always affordable to go for CIB for that system., even in this year.

I gladly pay hundreds of dollars for games and I play and beat them all. Then they go on my shelf where I appreciate them and it makes me happy to look at them.

For someone like me who doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs it's a great hobby and I don't mind spending my money on it. Not sure if you're jealous, poor, or just bitter in life but hope things get better for you.

Too ugly for a GF so I spend all my money on games.

Not pictured: FF7 Remake First Class, CIB Jungle Green N64, tons of other retro consoles that I never play because emulation is just easier but I like collecting.

I also collect board games, MTG, and TTRPG books. I should just sell it all and buy an asian wife. Or keep playing JRPGs til I give up and rope myself.

It's all in these boxes besides the consoles and controllers and whatnot that I use often. I own very few original games besides a couple of Super Famicom games that have special chips so that they can't run on the Super Everdrive, and some really cheap Saturn games, so these boxes mostly contain controllers. The uppermost box contains Gamecube stuff and is my brother's. I also don't own an N64, just 2 controllers for it, I might get one someday.

I'd start with Legends 1. It's just as playable as 2 but I like the way it's map is designed better and of course it does start the story. 2 has control improvements and better analog support but it's better played after the first and does have some tedious segments. Legends is one of my favorite PS games, I'm glad to see more anons talking about it.
