Found the characters uninteresting, the World of Ruin was a boring grindy slog, full of bugs, I found the esper system to be needlessly convoluted, it was really easy, I could go on, but whatever.

Eh, I'll still stand by the opinion that FFVII is by far the best game in the series. It had a unique setting, iconic scenes, brilliant monster designs, and a beautifully open-ended finale (screw you Crisis Core!!). Generally, I always see the FFVI fandom as a reponse to the enormous popularity of VII - you always seem to see people praising FFVI and bashing FFVII in the same sentence.

I am sorry to disagree with you my friend, but no other final fantasy ever comes in comparision with 6 when talking about the variety of attacks it has. It has the biggest rooster of magics, summons, blue magics that we have seen in any final ever. It also has some sort of limit brakes, each character has a special skill, weapons infused with powers, and finally you can use relm to sketch/controll a monster or you can use gau and you will be able to use an oustanding variety of spells, skills and combinations of them, never seen in any other final fantasy ever.
I mean, there are even special items to throw, and Interceptor! Fuck Angelo!

Well I dont bash FFVII, I think is a great game but I do agree with my fellow FFVI supporters that is the weakest game in the franchise. Maybe there are different kind of personal setups that make groups of people to have similar tastes, and there is a group that likes what VI has to offer and is not so exited for what VII has to offer.
I say it again tho: VII is a great game, I re-play it from time to time and I think it has one of the greatest plot twists in storllitelling ever.

You can argue that the skills in V are cooler, better, or more useful (and you would be wrong as well), but you cant argue that V has more things to do. This is an objetive fact. It has more command skills (jump, dance, etc), spells and monsters to control than final fantasy V BY FAR.

Final Fantasy V has more endearing characters (even a great character death) and more enjoyable gameplay due to the class system, thus making it the better game in my eyes.

If FFVI had more focus, I might like it better, but as it stands, V is my favorite of the original 2D games.

I'm playing VI right now and I'm really enjoying it, but I just got done with V and I think it's my favorite game in the franchise. I like that it has a nice balance of lightheartedness and feels, the job classes and potential of customization was awesome, and I really enjoyed the interaction between the main characters, the previous dawn warriors, and Exdeath.
