Why did the later games remove the NES games and item password system?

>> No.7377825

NES games so they could sell them to you separately, first as Classic NES series and later as virtual console. Password system was replaced with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

>first as Classic NES series and later as virtual console

And then as an annual subscription service, and then in mini consoles, and then as shitty locked down handhelds.

This image would be perfect with a Switch somewhere.

The password system became abused with the internet. You weren't supposed to get any item just because some autist online figured them all out. The NES games were a bizarre addition to the original game which still doesn't make sense to this day. Fun times though

Animal Crossing was lowkey also a NES collection, which was a popular thing in the PS2/GC era with seemingly every retro publisher putting out something, from Taito and Capcom to Midway and Atari.

Animal Crossing is actually how I first played Punch Out, Donkey Kong, Balloon Fight, Wario Woods and Pinball. I think it might have been my only copy of mario 1 too. There was also Zelda, but I had it on collectors edition. It really should have included pac man, but instead there were shitty titles like donkey Kong 3. The Nintendo theme merch was the coolest shit to me as kids but it made me look like a Nintie soi.

They were trying to compete with the mmo's. but then they found that they could earn more using the mmo model on the consoles

They were put there to draw people into the series. Worked for me. They should have made some fake "flash" games as furniture for future series entries as replacements for the NES games.

You seem upset they want to sell things of value for money. It's not as if emulating is hard, if you don't want to pay for the games you don't have to.

Pacman would have rights issues to be figured out. Makes sense they would only use first party titles.

reminds me how you can play a shit ton of arcade games on Yakuza. Is really funny how these old games oldfags masturbate to are literally the equivalent of a minigame within a modern game or at best some shitty free cel phone game.

Grandpas be seething but is true. Specially the Dreamcast fag, all of their catalogue were these arcade games that could easily be played as time wasters on Yakuza

imagine paying money for a ROM

I own basically every game ever released for computers or consoles save for the most recent iterations and never paid for a dime
