It's getting hard to find now. You can get the Metal Gear originals and MGS on GOG, and then the HD collection on PS3 gives you 2, 3 and Peace Walker. It's a bit easier to find if you have trouble getting Legacy.

It's worth noting that the first disc is just the MGS2/3/PW HD remaster and the second disc is just MGS4, so you'll need to go into the MGS3 menu in order to access Metal Gear 1 and 2. As others have noted, MGS1 and VR Missions are PS1 Classic download codes included in the case, so if you get a used copy you'll likely have to pay the extra 10 bucks or whatever to download them off of PSN.

MGSV was a disappointment to me personally, really hated the shitty mobile game mechanics they shoe horned in like excursions and stuff like that. Not a fan of the PW mechanics either like the whole base building stuff, but it's not retro so I'll stop here.

I guess it depends on how much it is. You can get the MGS 2/3/Peace Walker collection for like $20. Then you just need MGS 1 and 4. If you want to play 4's MP, then you want an old copy and never update it, since that blocks the MP mode forever.

I also recommend Twin Snakes, you can probably just emulate that in Dolphin.

HD collection or Legacy are a good buy since It comes with PW HD and Legacy is a mostly complete package, however 2HD and 3HD have their problems like how the opening sequence in 3 is fucked by a stupid mistake and there is some missing content, shane about the fps but the most content you are gonna get of 3 is getting the ps2 subsistence version, which includes MG1, MG2 and bonus modes anyways.

No PS3 game is a good purchase, since the consoles are so easy to softmod. You literally just have to visit a website on the console's web browser and that's it.
