Is $100 for an N64 a good deal? and is it even a console worth buying in todays world?

>> No.7368795

It's worth what you're willing to pay for it. I wouldn't, but you can.

>> No.7368797

Yes, especially if you can get an Everdrive. A lot of good shit on it won't emulate correctly unless you have a pretty nice PC.

>Is $100 for an N64 a good deal?
No, you're getting ripped off. A standard N64 with a controller goes for about $80. A good deal would be under $60.

>and is it even a console worth buying in todays world?
Yes, if you have a CRT or are willing to find a good way to upscale it on a modern display.

It's a great deal. The most I've flipped one for is $65. If you've found a sucker willing to pay $100 you need to do the deal asap before the fucktard price checks on ebay

Depends on what you want to play. I'm having a lot of fun playing F-Zero X and Star Fox 64, and if there's any single player games you've yet to play on it it would be great to catch up on those. Bonus points if you have someone you want to play it with.

$100 would probably get you a special colored one, the only exception is if the standard one comes with a bunch of first party controllers.

If you grew up with it, or appreciate early 3D, then yes. If you're a zoomer, probably not.

Autists on this board are out of touch. Prices for N64 have been jumping in the past few years. Not sure why you are bringing up flea markets and thrift stores. You cant find them there atm.

The only thing that could lower the prices for used consoles is if Nintendo released some N64 mini.

I'd like to think I'm not a psychologically sensitive type, otherwise I wouldn't be on this site. But man sometimes the posts here really just get to me. I mean how do you read something like this and not get pissed and psychologically damaged in some way? It's only a 4chan post, but like this dude is claiming that only zoomers buy N64s. It's disturbing.

On topic - it's definitely worth it to play the console but whether you're getting good value in the American market is questionable since I've heard pre-covid N64s used to go for $30-$60. I know it's boring but if you pay attention to second-hand sites you can get deals. I picked up a (backup) N64 without cables for €25 about two years ago, and N64s are more expensive in europe.

I'd personally be ok with buying for that price, but it's a personal preference. It also seriously depends on how much of a stickler you are for the authentic experience. The N64 controller has a reputation for being a piece of shit and personally, I'm not losing sleep at night when I play N64 games on an emulator with an Xbone controller

You haven't even explained why you hate emulation. Maybe if you try communicating an opinion with reasoning of some sort you'd end up with understanding instead of emotional damage.
It's pretty simple for me though. I actually lived through a long span of time where physical systems were the only option and I recognize emulation as the ridiculously magical innovation that it is. Every game imaginable instantly there with zero effort and zero expense on any of the major systems. I don't get you at all if that's not a good thing in your mind, unless you're a young person trying to fit in by having a nonsense preference for needless physical limitations like that makes the game more "authentic" somehow.
