Why the fuck NES Pac-Man was released as late as of 1993 while the same fucking port got its release on japanese Famicom in 1984? Where's the logic in here? You thought that Pac-Man released on NES in 1984 would be a hotter thing rather than releasing it at the end of console's lifespan.

Tengen released it in 88. And then again unlicensed in 89

>> No.7347604

Because they already released the unlicensed Tengen version back in '88. And then the official Tengen release in '90. That was a re-release under a different publisher they usually used for their Genesis releases. It was a budget re-release designed to get the last scraps of money from the dying NES.

They also released the Famicom port of Ms. Pac-Man which was a totally different (and shittier) port than the Tengen one.

Namco also re-released a bunch of their old arcade ports for the famicom disk system in '90 for some reason.

nah. tengen (atari) never had an official license. tengen would only worry about licensing for releases in japan, and they got japanese games companies involved to license and distribute some of their titles.

atari under tengen were sneaky wee shits, calling up the US patent office, pretending they were nintendo so they could get a copy of the 10NES code to clone the CIC chip, so they could defeat the lockout and make their own carts, sly buggers

i would have done the same shit. nintendo were, and still are, complete and utter cunts that deserve everything they get.

neither one is exactly accurate as they're not source ports, but Namco's Ms. Pac-Man is just crap. also the guy who programmed the Tengen port said he had a specially modified cab with a freeze button so he could stop the game and study the graphics to be able to recreate them.

I find it hilarious that having the actual game in the office 24/7 was a luxury for people porting games to other systems back then.
