Hey ya'll, it's BMO from /t/.
2021 is the 20th Anniversary of one of my favorite games for the PC: ONI.

My teenage crush and first waifu was the bodacious Konoko. Previews of the game were out as early as 1999, where the purple-haired vixen made the cover of Mac Addict Magazine. The game while advertised for Mac was ported to the PS2 and PC where it managed to play on Windows ME (which sucked) but had problems running on Windows XP.

Over the years, this game has had a community wanting to finish the job that Bungie never did before it was scooped up by Microsoft to churn out a port of Halo ever few years.

This game combined martial arts fighting, third-person shooter and a 3D environment, and while other games have come along with similar concepts, there's always going to be someone who will bring up the Girl from TCTF, often how she can still take them to the woodshed.

This thread is dedicated to her and the game whose story has seeped into our reality as man continues to show disregard for the environment and allow the corrupt to get away with breaking the law.

Hopefully, I can play this on DOSBOX on my Raspberry Pi 4 via RetroPie. NVidia? Who's that? I remember playing this on my crappy laptop back in 2001. What do you think?

I rented this back in the day on my PS2 and thought it was shit. Then I beat it on PC on the hardest difficulty in 2015 when I was bored just to give it a second chance. I remember almost nothing about it, which is testament to how bland it is. The things I do remember are a few characters were ghost in the shell ripoffs including the protagonist, the combat was complete ass, the guns were imbalanced with some being worthless and others being too powerful, and the architecture was mostly just uninspired cube rooms and hallways with shitty textures. It also ensured that I never played Halo as I always remembered it was made by the same people that made this game and so I avoided it.

I gave it a try a couple of days ago, and it was alright.
It's ok, I couldn't get the throws to work.
Feels kinda like a tech demo or something. It has that 6th gen, bargain bin title feel to it.
I means that's literally what it was, wasn't it? It's like one of those games you would rent at Blockbuster, play for a while, and never think about it ever again.

It made me nostalgic for that era and shows I used to watch on Jetix as a kid. That early-mid 00s western anime style is so laughably bad nowadays, but it has a charm to it. A reminder of simpler times for me.

It odd how we just shit on everyone without consideration that the QUALITY of the game matters. Heck, there's an entire community that unlocks cheats and hacks in this game.

I kind of like how the story is told. For me it's enough when there are some short cutscenes and dialogue just enough to enhance the setting, and then you rely on the gameplay for most of the experience. And the gameplay took a little getting used to but after that it's fun.
