Both have their charms. Wa1 looks really obsolete today, but a retro gamer would probably prefer it since you have better gear management, more rpgish elements. The remake gives more playable characters, looks prettier and has flashy moves. Really, in the end I'd say to go for the remake if you are casually interested in the series and original if you want to play the other games in the series because WA2 is ugly as sin, but the best of the bunch overall despite that.
