Where do you get your Xbox roms from? I've been trying to use the archive.org HDD ready romset but it keeps giving me fuckloads of data errors when I try to extract the archives.

archive.org is the only other source I know of. I got mine from Pleasuredome, but you need to build up a seeding ratio to not get banned.

You're about to learn why only retards like redump, in their infinite wisdom they add a shit ton of dummy data to the end of their xbox dumps so you need to use xdvdmulleter to unfuck it. Why not just use a straight DVD rip or even just uncompressed files is beyond me, but fuck redump

>Dreamcast Redump games
Anyone here able to explain what makes them so different?
>be me
>get a chink gdemu and decide to try and dump the one dreamcast game I own legit to play on it
>dump with SD Rip
>all other files match redump database except one
>end up spending like an hour downloading different pre-ripped images online to compare so I know where I fucked up
>but they're all the same as mine but none match redump
>finally find the one link with the redump dump
Turns out the more common release and the one my Dreamcast shat out are missing a couple dozen zeros in the track02.raw file.
And I cannot for the life of me understand why they would be important or why the fuck SD Rip wouldn't be able to read them.
Game works fine without those zeroes btw

Because the aim of the project is to copy and preserve the original data as accurately as possible.

It's unbelievable, every time, EVERY TIME, every FUCKING time a new archival project is created there just has to be obligatory dipshits that will complain it's stupid and the only thing that matters are playable rips or whatever and fuck everything else. EVERY TIME.

"who cares about emulators being so accurate, they should just work le xd"
"who cares about FLAC or EAC or whatever 128kbps mp3 is enough le xd"
"who cares about redump, trurip, TOSEC, etc. archival is stupid just torrent a copy that works and that's enough le xd"
"GoodROM is stupid, they should just provide one working rom and disregard all others, it's too much work to simply copy the one rom with (U)[!] tags, le xd"
"BD Remuxes are retarded, YIFY is good enough le xd"
"why scene still pack everything in one convenient easily verifiable .iso file in multiple rars? why not just pack 20.000+ files liable to be modified in one compressed file and call it a day? le xd"

What's the point of making a copy of an optical disc that does NOT match what the original hardware reads?
Who's to say the additional data found even exists and isn't just a bug in their dumping methods? Could even just be a manufacturing error if it actually is pressed to the disc in the first place.

>> No.7354218

>>7352528
>What's the point of making a copy of an optical disc that does NOT match what the original hardware reads
Archival and preservation. Storage is cheap, there's no need NOT to preserve it. And it may be useful in the future.

>Who's to say the additional data found even exists and isn't just a bug in their dumping methods?
Redundancy. If the data matches different methods, it's probably correct, if not, it may be improved.

>Could even just be a manufacturing error if it actually is pressed to the disc in the first place
Virtually impossible. Pressed media are exact replicas of the original glass master and is accurate to the micrometric scale. Any deviation of that scale will result in a catastrophic defect in the manufacturing of the entire disc, on every disc of the entire batch. It's common and when that happens the discs are just discarded, and the machines stamp the layers of aliminium again. It's really cheap actually, a few cents for a hundred discs.
