Not sure where you're coming from with that one. Now Virtua racing on the other hand I'd say is better on the 32X

Shamg-Tsung doesn't pause the game to load when he morphs into another character in Mortal Kombat II 32x. The character does in all disc versions of 2, 3 and their variants.

32x still uses a genesis sound font that isn't the best though for the Doom port. Sad but true

The Saturn/Playstation port of MK2 is a mess. The 32X is actually the second best port that isn't emulation, the best being the MS-DOS version.

32X was never designed to be the next generation, Americans knew 3D was the way forward. 32X was a stopgap. The Saturn was the Japanese thinking that everyone would buy another 2D system once they got a taste of good 3D with the Playstation/Wintel

I'm not sure what happened to Virtua Racing on the Saturn. The Sega Saturn version does add a lot of new content, but it feels like a completely different game. The 32x version feels closer to the arcade original, and adds a couple extra cars and some new tracks.

The Virtua Fighter models are lower poly in the 32x game, and it doesn;t sound as good as the Sega Saturn version. But it plays at 30fps just like the Saturn and arcade game, and doesn't have the clipping arena of the Saturn game, and flickering textures. 32x version does have a few extra features, like changing the ring sizes. It is a good port.

It was farmed out to Time Warner Interactive for some reason while the 32X version was done by Sega's AM2 division

Nigga have you ever heard of this little thing called Virtua Fighter Remix? And Virtua Fighter 2?

>better port of Doom
No Aubrey's music, terrible renditions of the midis instead. 6 button controller is a nightmare to strafe, no Doom 2 levels. No Club Doom. I will take Saturn's low framerate over this any day.

i love how you retards on this board just make up entirely new things that never existed. please explain to us this "sound font", a term that has never been used to describe any genesis music development. this shall be interesting.

32x as an Add-On never really had a chance, if they had gone with the Neptune first instead then it probably could have done better as I imagine consumers would have been more comfortable buying a "Genesis 2", indeed it having backwards compatibility with most Genesis games would have been a huge selling point, as would the fact that the Neptune would have been cheap as hell(around 150 bucks)

The fault in Doom's soundtrack on the 32X is that nobody bothered to reinstrument it for the Genesis's hardware, it was just converted and dumped unceremoniously in the ROM without any more effort put into it, which is why it sounds like hot garbage. There's no reason you couldn't make Doom's soundtrack good on the 32X besides laziness/too little time to do things, so it's a problem of either poor work ethics or a shitty publisher.

Here's a guy who redid the entire soundtrack so that it'll actually sound good on the Genesis/32X:

>>7307562
Now, imagine this soundtrack, with the already pretty good controls, good audio quality, and framerate that the 32X version of Doom has, then add the Sega CD to the mix, and you can add all the missing levels, textures, bosses, and monster rotations back into the game, and you would have a really good port of Doom on console.

Could be wrong, but isn't the 32X a Genesis addon that makes it capable of 3D games? Like, wasn't the point to make the Genesis about as powerful as the Saturn before the Saturn was a thing?

Doom is supposed to be a fast game, and it's certainly not on the Saturn, the horrible constant slowdowns are not excusable, and are worse than the 32X having bad music and lacking levels.

I find it sad the homebrew scene for the 32X is basically nonexistant.

Is it impossible for someone to try and make a CD-32X combo title that's actually worthwhile?
